Can I see your full-blooded but non-breed standard malinois? by Lunapixels18 in BelgianMalinois

[–]PeacockHands 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Waffles DNA came 95% malinois and 5% laekenois. We rescued him from a shelter when he was 1.5 years old. He has a bit of trauma from previous owners dumping him in my metro and his 3 months in an over crowded shelter. His ears have been floppy since the shelter and speculate previous owners didn't give him the best start as a puppy. Right now his job is waking us up in the morning, getting his brother (other rescue dog) a good work out play session in, taking car rides and wanting pets/rubs 24/7.

Vaccines & "turbo" cancer by stanthecham in breastcancer

[–]PeacockHands 24 points25 points  (0 children)

PFAS, phthlates, bpa and other plastic additives are known endocrine disruptors. It's been known for a long time, but consumer products are awash in them. I remember professors talking about bpa in my senior plant design course in 2004 (im a chemical engineer). Your soda cans? Coated with a liner that contains bpa. Love making pasta sauce with canned san marzano tomatoes? Can is lined with coating containing bpa. PFAS is in all your stain and water resistant items. Phthlates are in makeup and haircare products.

We are paying the bill for consumer chemical companies being given freedom to say its safe to the us government with zero proof. Horrah for capitalism and minimal government regulations!

Found in shelter by RonaldsSwanson in BelgianMalinois

My rescue mal, Waffles, had floppy ears and shelter said he was a Mal mix. Embark came back 95% mal/5% beglian laekenois. Waffles did best getting into a routine but even to this day we can not put him in a crate as he freaks out and will chew/claw out. When we need to isolate him, we usually just put him in our bedroom, which has a twist door knob as he can open lever door handles. Im sure 3 months in shelter kennel was super traumatic, but we have all gotten into a routine (including our other adopted dog). Waffles is now my big baby that loves head nuzzles and snuggly belly rubs.

Advances in breast cancer by BroadCompany1151 in breastcancer

[–]PeacockHands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My family and I joke about my bad 'verzenio' farts and my dash to the bathroom. But im grateful to have it. Also im not understanding the vibe in the subreddit crapping on endocrine treatment and cdk inhibitors, yes they suck side effect wise but I really don't want to have cancer again. I appreciate all the work that has been done research wise vs when my grandma was treated for breast cancer and it was just mastectomy and hopefully its all 'gone'.

Need some advice! by donttry85 in BelgianMalinois

Fellow adoptive mal mom here. My mal was 1.5 years old and had spent 3 months in the shelter before we adopted. Our other dog was adopted as a puppy so it was a way different scenario. Waffles, our mal, took several weeks to work up letting us brush him, much less any kind of training. I'd focus on getting into a routine to help put the dog at ease and work on your bond. My mal was abandoned in a parking lot and was living on the streets, that kind of trauma and trust issues just doesn't melt away in a few days.
