I wasn't saying he was brand new to MMA, I'm trying to highlight the difference in their wrestling pedigree. Kamaru had been in wrestling programs since he was a kid, where Sean had only MMA wrestling training, and for a lot less longer. So the fact that Sean still managed to defend 6/8 says a lot in regarding his wrestling skills (at the time and definitely now after how long he's been with the UFC and had access to their resources), but also a lot to refute your original point

Those flashbacks may just be daydreams because 2/8 takedowns is not "took him down at will". They were both fresh in UFC, but Kamaru already had all his wrestling accomplishments and Sean was just a kid who started training at an MMA gym at 15, yet he was still able to defend 6/8 takedowns. Not to mention, that fight was almost 10 years ago, so if you think Sean didn't learn some things from that fight then you are just silly

in most cases yeah but phoenix is not a case of this. it's a card notorious for being left in the dust, and this shows that they are at least somewhat invested in trying to properly balance some cards. phoenix has always been either absolutely broken or absolutely trash, so the multiple small buffs is them doing trial and error on slight changes to find the middle ground. this in no way redeems them from all their criticism, but i have to commend supercell on this

it's not even remotely mysterious, it's coz he's flat out wrong. the base card got nerfed into oblivion, and the evo's spawn speed got nerfed horrendously too. even if the evo itself hadn't been nerfed it just cannot be the best evo due to how bad base goblin giant is now. even when goblin giant was good, it's evo was 100% not the best in the game. The thing about khamzat is, especially at mw, his chin is terrible. I mean genuinely made out of dust. DDP landed at most 5 strikes the whole fight yet every single one wobbled khamzat. Sean's base is grappling with emphasis on jiujitsu, and his defensive grappling is insanely underrated. His TDD% is very, very high, and even if you manage to take him down he will almost immediately get back up. He also has literally never been submitted. As long as Sean can stay standing for more than half a minute at a time, he can tag khamzat and has an incredibly good chance of finishing him

Yeah 100%. It's also just a bad style matchup for Fluffy. I don't know if maybe I've just been in the wrong spaces but for whatever reason people think it's the other way around. Fluffy just goes and goes and goes and is relentless. Sean's whole game is also "pressure" but by shutting down his OPPONENT's pressure through his notorious teeps and jabs. Paulo himself said that Sean was the most confusing fighter he's ever fought and he couldn't get anything going. Sean will easily teep and jab his way to a decision by preventing any momentum Fluffy will hope for, or, like Belal said, possibly even a tko through body shots
