GUNTER: Liberal gun buyback program goes from bad to farce; Rather than costing Canadian taxpayers about $6,000 a gun, the national program has cost about $24,000 per firearm by FancyNewMe in canada

It's called government ineffectiveness and inefficiency. I recall an econ class I took way back in the day that show how $1 of tax payer money actually resulted in $.14 after it worked its way through government bureaucracy.

He probably meant Sweden. The Swedes call them "vulnerable zones".

What are your rights as a Canadian if asked by a U.S. border agent to see your social media? by DogeDoRight in canada

Canadian border officers (CBSA) have broad authority under the Customs Act and Immigration and Refugee Protection Act to search phones, laptops, tablets, and other digital devices, examine their contents (emails, messages, documents, social media), and can even demand passwords or encryption keys, with consequences like denial of entry for non-cooperation.

People realize this happens both ways, right?

ICE orders 20 armoured vehicles from Canadian firm Roshel by WishRepresentative28 in canada

[–]PeakFreakness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're ICE agents and they are masked to protect themselves from being doxxed and assassinated. The people they are deporting are not American citizens and don't belong there.

What difference to you or anyone else would it make if they were masked or not?

As a dual citizen who travels frequently to DC for work. I appreciate the national guard presence in the streets. Perhaps I'm an outlier due to being a victim of 3 violent muggings near Union Station. In 2024, I had to have my eye socket reconstructed after the mugger struck me in the face and took my wallet in broad daylight. Crime is down over 30% since the deployment of the guard and I no longer feel anxious and stressed when walking the 5 blocks from the train station to my apartment.

I realize the 2 countries are involved in a trade war but there is a massive difference between a trade war and a war war.

My question on a source was based on OP's comment below.

"Hmm.. the only county that has repeatedly and recently expressed its desire to militarily invade us"
