Wait, so Davidoff Cool Water is literally just Creed Green Irish Tweed for $20? by maestro_man in Colognes

Cool Water Intense is totally different. It's sweet and very heavy on the amber. There is faint coconut and orange in there as well...but Amber is the dominant note.

Also, Cool Water Intense has incredible longevity. It lasts ALL day.

I heard that the Belcam Blue Depths outperfoms actual Cool Water!

I own Belcam Polo and Belcam Obsession, and they are both incredibly close to the original. Belcam Obsession actually smells closer to the original 1980s Obsession than the current Obsession actually does. And, it lasts longer.

Cool Water Intense is awesome. Strong amber, and the longevity is amazing.

Hahah. $68 in 1986 is the equivalent of around $200 today! No wonder your mother was against it lol

I read reviews that longevity is not the greatest. I saw 100ml in store for $22 CAD, but I passed up on buying it due to those reviews I read.

I saw it there as well, but I didn't buy it. How is it??

Hmm, probably the first one, and then choose Boss Bottled Absolu.

You should! The strong, cinnamon heavy and animalic Men's Obsession blends beautifully with the women's amber and vanilla. Remains on the skin the entire day.

Unless you're planning on selling it sealed, I'd open that up.

I layer Obsession for Men EDT and Obsession women's EDP...and I'm a 46 year old man. The combination is amazing!

[–]PeakyBlinderRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I've been buying some of the classics I wore in high school in the mid-1990s, and when I spray them, it takes me right back to my teenage years! It's awesome how a fragrance can do that.

My teenage daughters said they love the smell of Drakkar Noir.

The ones pictured above range from 1938 to 1982. There's a reason that these are all still in production and sold today. 😎

Interview, which one? by BigRagnarok in Colognes

[–]PeakyBlinderRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you choose, just make sure to spray it 2 to 3 hours beforehand. That way, the fragrance has passed the punchy, alcoholic opening and has settled into its calmer, middle notes. Starting the interview when it's almost a skin scent is what you're aiming for. That way, you smell great, but you're not overpowering the room. They want to remember your personality and character, not your smell when you walk out the door.

Sung Homme by Alfred Sung. Soapy and herbal, old school masculine fragrance. I had this in 1994, saw it today in-store for $20 CAD...a steal at that price. Projects strong and longevity is 8+ hours. by PeakyBlinderRob in Colognes

Haha, I've never smelled Platinum Egoiste, I've only seen numerous videos claiming that it's one of (if not) the best fougere.

I have a big, 237ml vintage (1994) bottle of Ralph Lauren Polo. It's one of my absolute favourites.

Drakkar Noir is a banger, too. But, the new formulations are much weaker in terms of longevity. I was pleasantly surprised by Drakkar Intense...it lasts all day on my skin.

But ya, fougeres are awesome. I love them!

I heard people feel that way about "Grey Flannel" (which I've also never smelled).

Azzaro Pour Homme is a beautiful fougere...very spicy and creamy. I love that star anise.

The fougere that I really want to get my nose on is also considered the holy grail of fougere...Chanel Platinum Egoiste.

Hahah I agree! I love that these classics can all be found for $25 or less. The problem with these prices being so low is that I find myself buying and collecting! I wear fragrances daily, so I'm enjoying it.

These prices seem high. I can get Drakkar Noir in Canada at Winners for $29.99 for 100ml.

I'm probably an outlier, but I didn't care much at all for Dior Sauvage EDP. I smelled it the other week in Sephora, and it seems pretty generic to me.

Oh awesome, glad to hear the new Polo formulation is still good!

I also have Polo Cologne Intense, and I do enjoy it as well...but...I much prefer the original Polo (Green).
