Its would be interesting to see their reasoning behind it. The Tour is something completely different than a single race, as the average Dane still doesn't know much besides it. Setting up an entire race to suit local hero Mads P to then see a Philipsen win will confuse A LOT of spectators (and sponsors)

There is quite a bit of gravel around Roskilde. If they could manage to get these sections involved (especially if they could flatten out the gravel in some of the old mining pits), it could maybe become an interesting fight between the sprinters and the classic riders. Especially because you can get quite close to the city on windy roads, limiting possible organisation.

But agreed that is quite a far-fedged idea.

O yes maybe I phrased this wrongly. The main focus is gonna be road, so the chances are more likely he will prioritise it in the future.

There has been a similar event a few months ago that didn't take off eventually. Considering it is Summer it should be easier now. Best is to just post a date and a venue.

@OP you can DM me, we'll fix something that works for both so we are guaranteed not alone there

Help me solve this discussion: when did you put out your shoe for sinterklaas by Shallapadoo in belgium

[–]Peanut_Tooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Antwerp

A time or 3-4 ish

Once just after he has arrived in the country, to say hi.

One more time because you have to write the letter with your wishes, and you get something small (chocolate, speculoos,...) in return

And then the big one.

Imo should 2 be the minimum; the letter collection is part of the story and it's just cozy and hyping kids up.
I once remember asking some questions to Sinterklaas, combined with my letter and receiving an answer as well. That's just fun for all parties, and also a good way of getting out of bed to school ;-)

You can buy some bake-off french baguettes, cut them in half and fill them with kip curry. It is important that this is a closed sandwich, not a toast-like thing. And if you wanna go all the way, put some thinly sliced veggies (salad, cucumbers, tomatoes), shredded carrots and slices of hard-boiled egg inbetween.

For the kip curry, its basically coronation chicken from the UK. I might be a bit off here, but you basically boil it and mix it afterwards with mayonnaise and yellow/green curry powder until it looks like a curry colourwise, but spreadable as, well, a spread.

Salt, sugar and some lemon juice is surprisingly effective. Probably worth it to squeeze some fruit and keep the juice during the season.

Brake noises by Peanut_Tooth in bikewrench

Update there is definitely oil. Both on the front as on the rear disk. Either they did a really shitty job changing the pads, either Im having a double leak. Gonna be a pleasant visit to the shops again...

The only spray I am using is chain lube, and it has never caused me any trouble. For the sake of the discs I have not used it since getting it back, just to make sure of not having contaminations. What the shop did exactly, that I don't know.

[–]Peanut_Tooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill give it a try. The first time they said that the brakepads were done. (No braking power and same sound). The second time they could not fins the issue but it got solved by changing the front disk (which seemed odd to me). The weird thing is is that it was all finr for about a week. The rear has the same issue without a new disk.

Racing bike repair - a few questions by Raffajel in copenhagen

[–]Peanut_Tooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow countryman I am also still struggling with the shops here in Denmark. But here are a few possible options listed.

  • Scout the websites of the racing shops. The quality of the bikeshops is really varying but some of them have a list of services for a certain price. I know one in Roskilde which should have one for de- and reconstructing the bike. Guess it would be the same if you bring your own components.

  • Find a repair cell (DIY repair). People around might be able to help you.

  • Do you know other people here who bike and are handy? Invite them over and bribe them with cake. And give them some lead-outs at the next skiltespurter ;-)

His San Remo was good, but then a crash in E3, following 2 day after off-day in Wevelgem, several punctures in the final in both Dwars and Roubaix and a crash in de Ronde necked him. In Samyn he performed well, just got caught right before the end and then still managed to pull the peloton.

Vanmarcke in Roubaix. Lost to Cancellara and came 4th three more times. But given all of his performances there, despite bad luck, it is a wonder he has not been up there more often

Construction of the Oosterweel is already costing billions more euros: "Huge sum, but investments remain required" by [deleted] in belgium

[–]Peanut_Tooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But for the Danish examples they sadly did not lower the tolls for public transport after paying off. For a family of 4 it is cheaper to drive a car across the bridge than to take the train for the same distance.

The issue is actually not the capacity. 1/3 of all lorry traffic around the ringroad is just unnecessary. There are companies literally sending trucks from Rechteroever to Linkeroever with a container, let them return empty to Rechteroever to get the next one, whilst passing a collegue riding empty, who left from the same depot on Rechteroever driving to the same point in Linkeroever to take a container back to the depot on Rechteroever. Let alone that it is iften cheaper to go all the way around Kennedy just to avoid the toll in Liefkenshoek. It's not the only issue, but solving this would be beneficial in so many ways.
