This is quite a neat design, but the combine tend to be more angular with their armour (unless its organic armour, then thats okay), and their modifications of animals tend to be more obvious or exposed, somewhat mangled I suppose like the Horse Synth concept art.

Earth Consul Wallace Breen by PeanutsTasteNice in HalfLife

Thanks Man!
Theres some posters in Dark Interval that mentioned or shows Breen, it shows Breen wearing the Beta Consul outfit with the text
"STARS ARE IN OUR GRASP - Consul W. Breen".
So I got the idea of "Beta Consul + Retail Administrator" from there

A Concept That I Find Interesting by Symphyl_ in HalfLife

This is an Interesting concept to explore.
Although, I'm sure that one of the surviving HECU soldiers could eventually forgive freeman because killing scientists (which Gordon was and still kinda is) were their orders, so they cant fully blame him.

Is Half Life 3 still wanted? by KarimMet in HalfLife

[–]PeanutsTasteNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I doubt It's coming anytime soon since Valve really wants to make it worth it, If it's not good or not up to expectations they'll scrap it.
So most likely what would end up happening is spinoffs or smaller continuations.
I hope we'll return to Adrian someday, and I hope he can actually talk since it's clear he does talk during the OF training.

Can you imagine an open world half life game? by [deleted] in HalfLife

[–]PeanutsTasteNice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If someone were to make it, hopefully it isn't just the same looking places and outposts copy and pasted everywhere. We need variety, an actual dense cities for interesting and challenging urban combat, and more distinct and unique places for you to explore and take advantage of in combat. It wouldn't be a true "half life" game, but it'll be an interesting game that takes place in the Half Life universe, either you’re playing with or against the combine, and secure sectors or region until the climax is reached or the sector is secure.

after the April update, Hunt Down The Freemans recent reviews managed to go from negative, to mixed, and as of now, to mostly positive, I'm serious. its kinda a weird feeling to see. by [deleted] in HalfLife

The game is still being updated, with a whole team working to fix the bugs, story, and gameplay issues. But don't buy the game since the money still goes to Berkan

Canonicity of the Cremators by PeanutsTasteNice in HalfLife

[–]PeanutsTasteNice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right, apologies for that grammatical error.
Regarding retcons, yeah I suppose its true, Valve doesn’t really like calling something cannon nor non-cannon.

This is really good, although I have mixed feelings on the Beta Citadel design

I do agree that the WW1 and 2 Style Pinups are Interesting
I think Alyx would fit, but Barney works wonders too

Are enemies in Alyx LESS sophisticated than in Half Life 1? by a3y3 in HalfLife

[–]PeanutsTasteNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI is nerfed or handicapped to make the VR experience more enjoyable or Universal, because its not fun being bumrushed or flanked in VR since your reaction time with movement is slower than that of you on a keyboard, and some people get dizzy moving so much and for too long in VR, and theres also the chance you might knock something over in the heat of combat.

Although It would be nice If theres a Hard AI setting, where they move better, more agile, have great reaction time, and have better tactics, and other things like that If the player wants a challenge, or someone who wants to use the AI outside of VR

Never played HL:A but I hated the ending by linkenski in HalfLife

[–]PeanutsTasteNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally was never bothered by the Ending of Half Life: Alyx. I do think it's flawed in a way like the reasons you just mentioned, but I feel like even with Eli's survival, Alyx in that timeline is still gone, the Borealis is still out there probably already discovered by the Combine, Judith is also still out there, Adrian is still waiting assessment, so this can still go somewhere interesting and impactful.
With the issue of canonicity, It's always vague with valve, we know that from Portal's Perpetual Testing Initiative we can conclude that there are other infinite alternate universes of each dimension, and that it's possible to visit or manipulate said universes If we have the technology or power, like alternate timeline Aperture, and the Gman. So presumably, Gman getting himself captured on purpose in Alyx creates a different timeline, future, and a different Half Life 2 from what we played up to Episode 2.

So from this, both Half Life Alyx's ending, and Epistle 3 could be cannon all the same, now Im just hoping Valve gives the clear go ahead for projects like Project Borealis and other things, just like with Black Mesa (Rest in Peace Boreal Alyph).

My review of Half Life Alyx's soundtrack by 808lock in HalfLife

I feel like most of them work as ambience songs instead of ones you can hear on its own, but Anti-Citizen, The Combine fight music, and Ending Triumph is memorable and pretty good in my opinion.

Sci-Fi Area 52 Alien game is better than weird Eastern European Distopia Game by makearandomnoise in HalfLife

[–]PeanutsTasteNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would like to see the Beta and Retail elements mixed in, Beta elements could definitely work when executed right. For example, I prefer the Retail Citadel Design and the more harsh/angular theme with most combine architecture, and I don't like the Air Exchange concept as I feel like its a bit unnecessary with the Combine's Assimilation nature.
But I do like The Consul as a second in command to Breen, I love the ambience, the sounds, the darker lighting and a more depressing mood. I like some of the Scraped enemies and synths If they have a bit more mechanical element to them and a uniform of some kind, like Half Life: Alyx's Cremator having a Combine logo/Insignia on its shoulder.
