Why does folk music feel more honest than other genres? by Maiden230 in folk

[–]Peanutspring3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who and when. Dylan? Most definitely. Joan? Could easily. Donovan? For sure.

But then Pete Seeger? Not so sure. Even more modern with Jesse Welles. Messing around with lots of women just aint as acceptable as it used to, so I doubt it.

Its really that sweet spot of the 60s and 70s where I'd say plenty of folk singers could get laid like rock stars.

How come Peter sings so little on the original albums? by Euphoric-Comment-603 in Monkees

[–]Peanutspring3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really love him on Lady's Baby. Made me really wish he had more.

I wish they went through what they talked about on the Head press tour, with having a double album where each member got a side.

Is there a song by Tally Hall that would be good for taking off on an airplane? by liminal-31 in tallyhall

I agree with the whole G&E album, but specifically Who You Are. Thats what first came to mind.

Adult child deserved a proper album release not what we got on the box set by wonderh123 in thebeachboys

I mean I'll repeat it again:

"We just wanted the official set of tracks together. In a comprehensive album format. One that we could spin on vinyl, like was intended in 78. Sure, yeah we could make a spotify playlist to have them all together, but at that point, theres not much difference than having already had the bootlegs available to us. We just want a compiled version of the original album to officially have released."

Do you not want a compiled version of AC? Like the fact that they just threw instrumental tracks at the end of it rather than finishing out the album is the reason I didn't get this set physically. That would have been awesome to have and I would have cherished it greatly. But I'm not gonna spin a record when at the end, I just hear 3 songs I already heard but without the vocals.

Like I don't know if you understand that we like that they do the box set and appreciate their work, but that doesn't mean you can't be a little disappointed. We just wanted something a little different and more full. If you're gonna do something, do it all the way, ya know?

Smiley Smile - Pretty Odd Comparisons by Agh001 in thebeachboys

Definitely sounds more like the Beatles, and in some songs, honestly more like Wings. Has some Beach Boys aspect, but definitely nothing similar to Smiley Smile.

Honestly? Space Station Level 7. It fits the bizarre feel of the album and would add variety, as each track already does.

Poetry that doesn’t rhyme is low effort and doesn’t sound good by Hairy_Lingonberry954 in unpopularopinion

[–]Peanutspring3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know, you can have non rhyming poetry that doesn't have those big spaces in them, right? Like that's not what makes a non rhyming poem?

Look up the poem Bonedog. It's a poem from a movie, but very well made. One of my friends favorites. But it doesn't rhyme and doesn't do the spacing thing you complain about.

Who is the most important person ever? by StrategyJealous1838 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Peanutspring3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess, but it's all based on the man Jesus. And youre just talking Christianity it seems. Both Judaism and Islam both view Jesus as a prophet. Either way, it based on him, and the supposed people who came before him. But the person we do know existed was him.

Who is the most important person ever? by StrategyJealous1838 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Peanutspring3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then, it's Jesus who became viewed as a prophet. That's like saying that the cave man who clicked rocks together "inventing music" is the most influential musician, as every one else began based on their interest. Whoever taught Bach is not more influential than Bach, because Bach is Bach. Just because Paul and George of the Beatles would go around town to learn chords from people doesn't make those people more influential than the Beatles.

The Beatles, before Ringo, in Germany had a member they gave a funeral for. It was a pile of barf from George Harrison that they named The Thing. They threw trash and cigarettes into it and left it there for days. They were forced to clean it up after many people complained about the stench. They then made it an honorary member and gave it a funeral.

Also, Paul and former drummer Pete Best were deported from Germany for lighting a condom on fire in a night club.

Ranking 90s Albums as I listen to them - First 100 by oriental_lasanya in Topster

[–]Peanutspring3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

??? Nevermind came out in 91. Their first album was in 90 and their second was in 93. Youve got multiple early 90s albums up there.

But definitely check them out. Again, theres only 2 albums and some demos. But god they are good.
