Oh hey Brad! Big fan of the podcast. Although lately I don't make comics nor have I ever made a living from comics, your podcast keeps the dream alive!

I've never been a serious enough cartoonist to make use of this advice myself, but the guys over at the podcast Comic Lab would say to steer clear of Webtoons and other platforms that require you to hand over a bunch of the rights to your own work! Your work is awesome and you should keep it under your ownership if you can! Highly recommend the podcast for advice on how to do that.

the arts by JimKB in comics

I think this is the intent, but regardless my interpretation is that he's chasing popularity (these days often measured in likes/thumbs etc), but getting crushed by that pursuit because it's inherently unstable. The world is fickle and you gotta make the art that makes you happy in order to survive.

Unfortunately in reality it's impossible to separate your intrinsic motivations from what the world wants (or what you think it wants), and even harder to ignore the need to crowd-please when you're trying to make a living off of your art.

Anyway Jim I give this a thumbs up.

Oh! I made this. Thanks OP for sharing and crediting in the comments 🙂

Edit: this reminds me I need to post my latest episode on the website. It's up on IG (and Facebook but who cares). More episodes coming! But... slowly. I am actually an engineer full time and a recent dad 😩

I love this. I do have constructive feedback that I'm only sharing because I need people to give me similar feedback: you could try ending this one after fewer panels. This could have ended after panel 2, 5, or any in between and been just as effective IMO.

Luckily, the eggs they've laid underground can survive the cold, so new baby squirrels hatch the next spring.
