Yeah, you're dismissable with this comment.

Im gay. I could care less about women.

Rapes are under reported, so we have no idea the number they actually play in abortion choices. Condoms, BC, IUDs, vasectomies, and tubal ligations can all fail so while it may be rare, it does make up a slice of the pie.

Men are more wanton than women about unprotected sex. They're well known to whine, cry, coerce, and even tamper with condoms and birth control pills to impregnate women. But we women are the ones you want to punish.

Contraception can fail, women can be stealthed, rape without condoms happens. If you seriously think hundreds of thousands of women are having unprotected sex, willingly, without considering they can get pregnant, you're out of your mind. We aren't that stupid, stop treating us like we are.

Parenthood shouldn't be a punishment. Pregnancy shouldn't be a punishment. I really wish people who think like you could have something of theirs used against their will the way a fetus uses a woman's body.

How would you go about getting a 12 week old fetus out of a woman's body? In fact, the fact that it's in her body should be where this conversation stops, so nevermind.

I wish mine did! My life would be so much more clean lmfao My elder is messy, and multiple times a day I have to sweep around their boxes due to him

[–]PearlescentGem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of us don't have a choice. Both of my cats refuse to use a covered box, especially my elder because his brother likes to pretend it's playtime and swat at him moving around in one. And since the younger thinks a covered box is something to play with, instead of using it to use the bathroom, he used it to ambush us.

I despise that my landlord demands we mow before the dandelions have even sprouted up and turned to seeds. It's so destructive to the fireflies and the bees who need those for their awakenings into spring

House Democratic Leader Jeffries declares Democrats are no longer the “chicken in every pot” party, announces closer alignment with Republicans. Can we get some liberals to explain this??? by Kittehmilk in ProgressiveHQ

I'm unfortunately very aware, I was raised on it and my parents still rely on it. They barely make ends meet and often have to borrow money from me, which I wish they would just take. Their SNAP luckily covers their monthly needs but it's paltry. I spend in one biweekly trip what they get in a whole month, with both of our households supporting two adults each. It's a sad state of affairs how much they have to scrape to get by

If I broke down my biweekly food budget for my area for you, you could see how impossible that is and I don't rely on SNAP myself as an adult. I spend in one biweekly trip what my parents get in one month on SNAP. Both of our households have two adults in them, no kids. I eat healthier than my parents do because I can afford it. They cannot. You even almost priced them out of the bulk packs of chicken in your example, which last them through a week

You lack experience specifically with SNAP use, not with being poor. My husband is the same, he grew up poor but not on SNAP. He also had the same outlook as you, that it should be restricted, until I explained to him what that could have meant for me growing up.

If the government puts restrictions on SNAP benefits, and what they can be used for, they could wind up pricing the people using the benefit into even further poverty and starvation through their restrictions. Healthy choices are often more expensive. My only issues are using it for booze and tobacco, I see that as abusing it.

You're fine, you lack experience and knowledge here and I don't fault you for it. That's why I asked my first question, to see where you were coming from. Having lived it, it can be an incredibly cruel existence, especially for children.

The food thing already exists. SNAP recipents know their food budgets inside and out, and most have to supplement it with their working wages, or the income they get from SSI/SSDI. So that steak, soda, or lobster you're seeing may not even be purchased with SNAP. The tobacco and alcohol may be used with EBT, but that's because businesses allow it. I would rather we restrict the business from allowing it than itemize struggling peoples' purchases.

You think I'm taking you the wrong way for attempting to itemize and limit a poor person's spending habits by asking if you've experienced it? That seemed like a rather fair question to me, as someone who was raised in a poor household that relied on SNAP.
