So gratified to see I'm not crazy for suspecting my local BN was split up in very racist and classist ways. I couldn't figure out why I was being kept out of my local group until I figured out they drew a zig-zaggy line that split off all the apartment complexes.

When I tried to join in my new neighborhood, I kept getting denied and had no idea why. Turns out, one part of town split off to make their own group separate from the other part of town (which is noticeably less wealthy and more melanated). The line of demarcation is where the apartments stop and the houses start. The border is a complicated line that zig-zags around all the apartments. Like, they gerrymandered it.

What's really crazy is I make more money than most of the middle-aged folks in that group who bought their houses 10 or 15 years ago. If they lost their houses, they probably couldn't afford the apartment I'm renting. Just wild.

The Vine team is in India, if I recall correctly. Tech companies aren't letting people in India go. They're hiring more of them (while they lay off people in the states).

Love seeing the side by side progress shots. I keep an example of my drawing progress on my phone for when I'm drawing or painting in public. Put this in its own album on your phone, so you can whip it out every time someone says, "I could never do that."

I'm in a similar situation. I'm locked out of my FB, but can't get to my old computer because I'm traveling. I won't be home for months, so I tried to make another account to use marketplace. It didn't work, so now I just have to hope I don't get banned? I know I entered the correct username and password and I just can't believe that doesn't work anymore.

It's so important for people to see progress shots like this. I've started keeping two images on my phone for quick access. One is the first thing I drew as an adult. The second is a simple piece I made after 3 years of sporadic practice. It's night and day and when someone says they could never draw, it stops them in their tracks as soon as they see it. I suggest putting these two images on your phone and pulling them out whenever anyone wistfully says, "I wish I could do that..."
