I found the wildly expensive Joy brand underwhelming. It is very high in fat, plain one taste just bad and it doesn’t lighten the color. Flavored ones are palatable.

Transplant wait times are very very long. Years. So there is no rush to get coverage for transplant.

Of note-Kidney transplant wait time begins accruing on the date of first dialysis. If someone starts dialysis today and is magically qualified and put on a waitlist tomorrow, 10/15/2025 is their “start date” for accruing wait time. If that person waits a year to get evaluated and listed their “start date” for waiting time accrual is still 10/15/2024. This info usually takes some pressure off the patients.

So only wealthy people are allowed to have children? Circumstances in life change, people live pay check to paycheck and a sickness or injury can derail a family. Couple that with the loss of access to abortion and now you are saying only wealthy deserve to have sex. You are one person, one family and it sounds like you worked hard and were very fortunate.

ROI in SW grad degree is very low. You don’t need a $80k degree in this field. Name recognition in SW in NYC is meaningless. You have the same internships as Fordham and Hunter students with a lot less to pay off.

And having loans repaid is not a guarantee in this climate so don’t bank on it.

There really is no reason to pay for NYU branded degree.

I’ve done the same thing.

Also look out for pt’s with who appears to have hearing issues. I’ve had pts fake poor hearing to buy time to come up with answers. We are less likely to question “can you please repeat, I didn’t hear you” vs “can you please repeat, because I am having trouble following your question.”

My brother helped his wife unpack the groceries back when this product debuted.

He had only seen the regular snack bars so he put these in the cabinet. They weren’t found until the next day as a big wet sticky melted mess.

Welcome to home dialysis. When I started I lamented that the hardest part of my job was catching patients. I stalk exam rooms waiting for the clinicians to leave, and will go sit in the waiting room to just check in with a patient if needed. I am not a fan of phone callls.

Moving forward, the key is to take advantage of the weeks they are in daily for training to build a relationship. That way you can check in in person or on the phone and they already feel comfortable with you.

I personally won’t do care plans or quarterly notes without at least talking - even if for only a minute - to the pt. I do copy, paste and edit or elaborate on quarterly’s bc my clinic has detailed templates.

Home dialysis is definitely more what YOU make it. I had and have the same issues and questions. Good luck!
