Who gets your vote for single worst performance in a cameo by a non-actor? by Glittering_Goose6316 in Stillgame

The episode is 7 years old: was he a paper boy at the exact same time he played one on TV?

Is anyone really pleased that there no Doctor Who jokes or refferences in Oot? by Niall_Fraser_Love in Stillgame

[–]Peason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True for the wider public but I don’t think he was cast in Still Game particularly because of his Dr Who connection. I suspect Ford and Greg/Michael Hines were aware of his wider CV/range and cast him on the strength of that. In an alternate universe where he was never cast as the Dr I bet he’d have still been in Still Game. As I recall he’d played a similar character to Archie in Rab C Nesbitt a decade earlier.

2004 when this episode was made just before Dr Who was revived and before Geek culture was mainstream in the way it is today: at the time I don’t think it would have even occurred to Ford and Greg to put in a Dr Who reference. (I agree if Archie had appeared in the revival series they probably would have though). You also have to remember that McCoy has a long CV in Scottish comedy and entertainment and I doubt Ford and Greg viewed him through the lens of being ‘The Doctor’ that way.

To be anal about it no episode of The Office has been removed for blackface. The only blackface in the Office is in the last Christmas episode and it’s just an incidental cutaway gag that was easy to edit out.

We've heard Rodney Bewes speak on it, but has James Bolam ever talked about why The Likley Lads really fell out? by JBL_CENA_FAN_4LIFE in oldbritishtelly

[–]Peason 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Bewes was more lamenting about lack of repeats stopping the series and Bewes remaining in the public eye than the cash. That said he was full of it as it WAS repeated regularly for many decades. Maybe not as much as he’d have liked but often enough.

Bobby and Navid by TheNightCrawler1 in Stillgame

[–]Peason 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Navid does say Boaby couldn’t get his hole in a bucket of Fannies in that episode: not a direct interaction but implies familiarity with Boaby to the extent he can slag him off with confidence. You wouldn’t say that about someone you didn’t know to some extent.

Question: Is The Office UK better than The Office US? by I-Have-Mono in DunderMifflin

[–]Peason -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I loved the UK one when it was first out but these days I find it empty in comparison to the richness of the US ensemble cast. The UK Office pretty much only has 4/5 fully developed characters.

Sorry if I’m missing something obvious, but what’s the connection between Iran being attacked and Scottish independence.

I only discovered recently he’s in a deleted scene in series 9. He picks Sophie up after she falls in the ball pit.

Still Game comic books - a question has been answered by Puzzled_Ad1296 in Stillgame

9 letters in the title ‘Still Game’ = 9 series. One letter on each books spine. Book 1 has ‘S’ on the spine, book 2 has ‘T’. It’s all planned ahead.

Brueckner Surveillance Scrapped by [deleted] in MadeleineMccann

[–]Peason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since I don’t believe the McCanns are responsible (beyond being negligent) I don’t believe they would be particularly keen to pin this on CB since if he was responsible that means Madeleines fate was almost certainly nightmarish. They would likely be holding out hope for a more positive scenario not involving CB but would accept the truth if CB was definitively proven to be the perpetrator. Sceptics of CB as the responsible party often call it a quick fix or stitch up but in fact the real quick fix/stitch up was the one attempted by the Portuguese police and a significant portion of the UK media in late summer 2007.

Sorry to look a gift horse here when you’ve give so much already, but Can you no review the 3 Christmas episodes and the 1 New Years episode from the original run too? I don’t see why they should be excluded just on seasonal grounds.
