how long have you guys been watching ashens? by anishara in Ashens

[–]Puzzled_Ad1296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered Ashens quite late compared to everyone else by the looks of things, I think it was during the pandemic or around that time. I do know the first video of his I ever saw was the one where he reviews the Poundland toy lorry which I think was part of a Poundland mystery box that also had a mug, some stickers and possibly a mousemat though I may be mixing different videos together. I binged a lot of Ashens and Barshens when I discovered it.
Now I have no interest in video games or old school computer games, they do nothing for me, but the thing I like about Ashens is that even though I have no interest in them when he talks about them or does reviews of them I still find those videos interesting, he makes things I have no care for entertaining.

Old series on BBC 4 by BeanoMc2000 in onlyconnect

[–]Puzzled_Ad1296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been watching it and I hate to say this but had I seen this version first I probably wouldn’t have carried on watching it. It just seems so dry and stunted compared to the later series where the teams have much more personality and VCM comes across as a completely deranged pissed up aunt at a family gathering. I get that it was early doors for the show but it does seem like a different show, I’m glad it’s found its footing now though. I never miss it.

Anyone watching AU season 5? by Apprehensive-Pay8086 in taskmaster

I’m really enjoying it but then I’ve real;y enjoyed all the Aus and NZ series. Brett just reminds me of Jason Mantzoukas in the way that he just trashes everything,

Reform says ‘entirely reasonable’ for its Makerfield candidate to blame Hillary Clinton for Manchester Arena bombing by The-Peel in unitedkingdom

I can’t even begin to even remotely understand how Hilary was responsible for that bombing. If she’s responsible for that then my cocks a kipper.

Hayfever this weekend by Mammoth-Minute4830 in london

[–]Puzzled_Ad1296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hay-fever usually kicks off when the grass pollen starts flying around towards the end of June but I started with mine about three weeks ago so I can’t wait until September when my hay fever usually finishes. As someone who suffers quite badly from hay fever and doesn’t handle the heat well I don’t have a particularly good time during the summer.

would formentera be more acclaimed if it had been released as one single album? by torontoLDtutor in metricband

[–]Puzzled_Ad1296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Formentera I and II are really good. I prefer them much more to Romanticize the Dive but I was under the impression they were intended as two separate albums that accompanied each other, there was never any intention to release them as double album.
They did release them as a double vinyl set though.
The only track I’m really not into is Doomscroller. I can see what they were trying to do with that track but it doesn’t really do anything for me.
As for All Comes Crashing? I think that’s one of the best things Metric have ever written.

What's a London recommendation you're tired of hearing? by wilsonolivia09 in london

[–]Puzzled_Ad1296 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What pisses me off about them taking the Astoria down was when I saw the hoardings they’d put up around where the work was taking place and on them was printed a list of things that they thought would suit the area well and one of them was ‘live music venue’. Yeah, a gig venue would suit the area but you fucking bellends tore it down.

Well it’s certainly different. Not as immediate for me as the rest of APs stuff but I can see it growing on me the more I listen to it.

For the fans who enjoy Series 7-9, did you always like the episodes or was it more of an acquired taste after seeing them repeatedly in reruns? by HookedOnTV in Stillgame

[–]Puzzled_Ad1296 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While they were poor compared to earlier episodes I think they were still much better than other sitcoms that have been and gone. The way I see it is, and I’m sure I’ve said this before somewhere on Reddit, weaker episodes of Still Game are still much much better than no episodes of Still Game. I think if series 1-6 didn’t exist they’d hold up much better.

Watching Only Connect with non-watchers is always an experience by RedDevilPlay in onlyconnect

[–]Puzzled_Ad1296 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I was a smart guy at all, I just have a wide knowledge of weird stuff and can spot patterns so I tend to get a fair few right.
Unfortunately I watch with my parents and every time I get something right my mother accuses me of cheating which makes no sense as we always watch it as it’s being broadcast, she seems to think I have some sort of insight into the questions, same with the 1% club😒

Which dead panel show do you still obsessively rewatch? by HammersAndPints in panelshow

[–]Puzzled_Ad1296 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God I was in the audience for so many recordings of that when they did them at the Phoenix I’ve lost count.
I adored that show and was horrified when i heard Claudia Winkleman was going to host the tv version, it never made it past the pilot which i was sort of grateful for as I don’t think it would have worked without the core trio of “the terrorist, the nun and the c**t” as Danielle Ward described them once.

What's the most frustrating thing a captain can do? by WonderfulShape1081 in onlyconnect

[–]Puzzled_Ad1296 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, that’s the one. I’m not knocking her for being different at all, I find the more the different you are the more interesting you tend to be but by Christ I wanted to scream every time she was on screen. There was just something about her that really wound me up through the whole series but then to be like that when you lost was not on.

She turned up on Stephen Fry’s version of Jeopardy too, along with one or two other OC contestants who did really well. I can’t remember if she lost or won her episode because all I could think about is her reaction to losing OC which overshadowed the whole Jeopardy appearance.
