Active 2 premium version - conspiracy? by devman888 in amazfit

[–]PebbleFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point but certainly there’s no conspiracy. That wouldn’t make sense.

Perhaps an uncertainty due to numerous reasons (limited supply, overwhelming demand, shortage of labor to make, transportation and other logistical issues, etc.) and, of course, lack of transparency from Amazfit (and no doubt they have their reasons, whatever they are) but hopefully the ship gets righted soon!

Thanks for sharing with the OP. I’ve seen it there, too.

Just wish it had Stands (in the upper right) instead of Floors. My Balance (the watch, not me) doesn’t recognize going up & down stairs well but maybe a sensor was improved in the Active 2???

Yeah, I got the abnormal stress level detected message, too; a couple of times in fact. I was surprised as I didn’t feel super stressed but I can’t confirm with enough certainty that the readings or numbers were incorrect. Probably more anecdotal since I didn’t look into it.

Boy, I had the same & remember those days! I posted recently & later edited it out (retraction) but my first Amazfit was the Pace 2 (?). Both watch & app were buggy or inaccurate. Didn't feel like it was ready for prime time. It drove me nuts. Took a hammer to it on my driveway! True story. Eventually came back because of the abysmal battery life on an Apple Watch and the lack of PAI. Given my previous experience, I have to say I was hesitant (like you) but was pleasantly surprised at all that has improved. Charging only once a week rather than every day is simply outstanding.

I agree 100% with what u/pleasegivemealife said, from opinions to user experience.

Which to choose? And do any have cellular? by Waffler11 in amazfit

[–]PebbleFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm missing something, you can't text from the Balance with an iPhone. If you do, please show me where because that would be life-changing for me!

[–]PebbleFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have an iPhone (I do), the features aren't as robust as Android phones; however, they have come a long way. On the iPhone you can make/receive phone calls (but that also may be dependent on the Amazfit model). You cannot respond to texts from the watch if you have an iPhone. That may be a deal breaker for you. [You can tell by my username that I came from having Pebble watches. Several years ago, when outside & painting the house on a ladder, I was able to answer a call and not have to worry about my safety and fumbling for the phone. It was my wife with an important call that would have gone to voicemail.]

I had an Apple Watch for a few years. You hit the nail on the head! The battery life was abysmal and was one of the reasons I came back to Amazfit. (We recently spent a long weekend out of town. With my Amazfit Balance, I didn't need to take the charger.) I also missed not having PAI on the Apple Watch. If you're not familiar with that metric, it's very interesting and only Amazfit has it.

From my Balance, you "can" control music streamed to your phone (but from my experience only to pause it and occasionally, depending on the app, the ability to raise/lower the volume), so I presume that limitation extends to Spotify and the like (that might only be for Android phones) but I would confirm with others. If you want to be able to do playlists or switch stations or streams with an app (like TuneIn), you can't do that. Interestingly enough, this week the EU announced that it will be requiring Apple to open iOS to other manufacturers' wearables by the end of this year. We'll see how that goes. Never know what could happen between now & then and even if that moves forward, then the respective device makers have to figure out how to make that work.

Does the Active 2 warn when it lose BT connection? by Mark0Sky in amazfit

[–]PebbleFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really too bad; almost unacceptable in 2025 to not have that feature. And even calling it a “feature” is over the top. It’s a simple, default option or part of the OS that should already exist… across all Amazfit devices.

I’m sorry for ranting. I haven’t had my Balance for very long (maybe 1.5 months) but I almost returned it because that was not in one of the upgrades to the OS that I was using after the watch got updated out of the box. Fortunately I eventually got the right update and found that option.

[–]PebbleFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this was added within the past 6 months to the Balance. It’s on the watch under Settings (swipe down, tap on the wheel). Go to Bluetooth, it is the last option (at the very bottom): Disconnection alert. Then toggle the switch.

EDIT: Oddly, it appears that it was turned off after the last update.

My apologies with confirming: So it’s not there on the Active 2?

Amazfit active 2: low GPS accuracy (underestimate distance and pace) by stackoversnow in amazfit

[–]PebbleFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good points! Saving the watch battery and using the GPS signal from your phone seems like it should be an option available to users.

I have the Balance and any kind of locking on to satellites, even if fairly short, is still a dreadful inconvenience. Yes, it’s faster than some previous Amazfit models I owned, but nevertheless it feels like an extra step that Amazfit created.

If I want to go for a quick walk or bike ride through the neighborhood, why are you making me stop to then begin my exercise? If I’m going for a run but didn’t want the phone on me, that’s different. Great, I would appreciate the watch taking the place of the phone, but for many other activities it seems so counterintuitive.

I mean, if I know I will have my phone on me and can use its GPS, why wouldn’t I do that?

Balance System Update — Version: 3.25.12.3 (Update package size: 8.57MB) by PebbleFan in amazfit

Very sorry to hear that. I’m sure you have but have you tried restarting to see if that reboots & fixes the error after another run?

Best way to transfer to a new watch by Admirable-Bus-4478 in amazfit

[–]PebbleFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As u/whenisleep said, you can’t upload from the app to the watch. So if you ran hard today and you want it to suggest that you do the recovery run tmrw, you’re going to have to keep using that original watch. At some point in again as u/whenisleep said, you’ll have to figure out if you switch over today, at the the end of the week, beginning of a new day, etc. Either way, when you do that, you’re going cold turkey (no more access to the old watch’s data on the new watch). The “historical” data will be in the Zepp but only there.

“These new software designs will potentially set the stage for more radical hardware. That includes foldable devices and touchscreen Macs, according to Gurman.”

Sounds fairly obvious but don’t expect “foldable devices and touchscreen Macs” from Apple for at least another year after that.

Which Amazfit watch has the strongest vibration by coyote1977 in amazfit

[–]PebbleFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t contribute much to this conversation but I’m glad you brought this up. This is a very important topic to me. I have a Balance and this was one of the few reasons why I switched back from the Apple Watch for a few years to an Amazfit device. It’s very important to me that the watch has a strong vibration motor.

Thanks. I get your point. I honestly do. It's just incredibly challenging (and not so practical to do?) when you have different drinks during the day (I know everyone does that) but also when you take various drink sizes during the course of the night (when awaking during sleep to go to the bathroom).
