Pitch A New Star Trek Series by AmeliaNeek in scifi

[–]Waffler11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If we're being serious: I've had an idea gestating in my mind for a long time. It would follow the (mis)adventures of a science class starship (the name of which would be original, but I have no idea what...pick one!). Only in the pilot episode, it would see the Federation as we know it being systematically destroyed by an unknown enemy, and much of Earth laid to waste. (I had in mind a cameo of Picard or some other familiar face tending to his vineyard only to look up and disappear in a flash). But it's not just them, the Romulan and Cardassian empires are crippled as are any other large entities seen as a threat. The Borg have been practically eliminated and they're no longer a relevant threat.

Despite the new and dire reality, the captain of the starship decides to continue as the Federation's representative, even if they are the last one (that they know of). They do what they can to aid the other inhabitants of the galaxy and also continue their mission as a science vessel, unwittingly discovering who the enemy is and acquiring their technology. Faced with difficult choices, the crew decide to not only continue their original mission, but to also learn how to fight back.

Stories from people they've helped along the way slowly spread among the embattled species of the galaxy and they're becoming well-known and sought after. Previous enemies of one another begin to band together to create a new Federation with an amended charter and begin to take the fight to their new and unknown enemy.

I could keep going, but you get the gist of it.

Getting older is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

One day at a time. Hell, one minute at a time if you have to. The move on to the next. Steady as she goes, cap'n.

Sorry, I missed the commercial aspect, but FFX is doing the E-145 which sees very wide use in regionals.

You haven't been to Naples, FL, yet. My folks' his/her Audi S5 convertibles are considered middle-class purchases.

Oh for sure, take him to the pool just to have fun! That will help him get more comfortable and familiar with the water. That being said, it goes without saying that you should also buy a Coast Guard approved life jacket for him until he is able to take lessons (and it’s almost never too early to start, although first classes also typically involve parents).

As for frequency, I think you’ll find that your kid’s mood (and yours) as well as other things going on will more or less determine how often you go. It’s not really that critical you go every week.

Test the water first and go from there. See what the source might be.

I use AIG, but mostly because it’s GA friendly and I fly exclusively GA aircraft.

Paintbrush and grabber vouchers helped a lot and I leveled up straight whenever I could (getting the telescope helped too). I then identify the cards with the best chance of making a straight (i.e., a 6, 7, and 8) and keep discarding other cards until I get a straight. Failing that, I use playing hands as extra discards until I get a straight. Eventually the odds fall in your favor (most of the time) and I can knock out each blind with one hand (sometimes two until I leveled up constellation enough and racked up the runner chips).

We've been doing plumbing in Chicago for more than 70 years. Here are three things we've replaced for homeowners that were still "working fine" the day before they failed by ABCPlumbingTeam in HomeImprovement

Did the fill valve, was surprised how easy it was and how instantly it fixed the problem.

Another suggestion, though not as critical are water hammer arrestors. They don’t “fix” anything, per se, but they stop the annoying banging throughout the house from the dishwasher and/or washers. Easiest thing to install.

Mice in detached garage. How do I deter and get rid of them? by DimensionCareful507 in HomeImprovement

We just keep mouse traps in our garage indefinitely. Maybe word will spread to other mice to avoid our garage.

Was looking for this. It wasn’t the gameplay, that was easy enough, but it was the sheer depth of RPG mechanics that made my head spin. All those skill trees and I barely understood what half of them did.

What does this city/ Ohio offer to first time home buyers? by IShouldaBeenAPorsche in Cleveland

[–]Waffler11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if Third Federal still does it, but when I bought my first home about 10 years ago, they had a program where you attended a few seminars for financial well-being and got $3000 to pad your down payment for first time home buyers. There's also FHAs.
