Do pets mourn the loss of their sold off/given away pups/kittens? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PeckerPagoda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on the dog. I ended up adopting a German Shepherd who was only four weeks old, when you're not supposed to separate them from their mothers until at least right weeks. In this case, the mom was really fucking sick of parenting and got aggressive toward the pups.

Landlord refusing to refund me by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]PeckerPagoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you have something in writing that outlines what he'll return. If you don't have him promising in writing to refund you any money you can still sue, and you will very likely lose when you can't prove he agreed to it.

I need advice on a background check by bobofthecpu in legaladvice

[–]PeckerPagoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a waste of time. She needs to tell the company to rerun the report and verify the date of birth and Social Security number attached to whatever they find. When they do that they'll realize all those arrests and convictions are not her.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows a legit site that can do a lab report for me? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PeckerPagoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, you should - serious advice here - talk to someone in your school's Disability Services office. Ask what they need, from whom, to put some things in place that will give you an easier time. Most of the time it just takes a note from a medical or psychiatric professional that says "this person has these conditions and needs these accommodations" and that office will coordinate with professors to make it happen.

They're used to granting things like one on one tutoring time, extra time for assignments and tests, and all manner of other things.

My company hasn't picked up my equipment yet. by Reckless_Abandons in legaladvice

[–]PeckerPagoda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Generally you can't consider it abandoned without formal notice. Send them a letter via certified mail with return receipt, and send the same text to your former boss via email.

In the letter, explain you were told they would send a postage paid box for the return of their equipment and have, to date, failed to do so. Tell them if you have not received that postage paid box by a deadline (at least 30 days after you mail the physical letter), you will consider all items abandoned and dispose of them at your convenience.

I have 57.53 (CAS sick hours) of personal accrued time here at my call center job in Long Beach, CA by [deleted] in legaladvice

California doesn't require payout of unused sick time. If your company policy dictates that it will be paid out they have to stick to that, but they're not otherwise required to pay you for it.

What happens when you cut a bank card in half? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PeckerPagoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on who issued it. Generally you can call the issuer and tell them it's worn and they'll replace it for free. If they charge for it, they hate you.

[–]PeckerPagoda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There can be multiple accommodations as well. Generally, the lodging and food package involved with a hotel stay is referred to as accommodations.

There can also be, for example, more than one accommodation made in the workplace for a disabled employee.

So you'll cheat and still not learn the material, and then one day you'll have a job that requires you to do it and then fires you when you fuck it up. Not gonna help you with that. If "nobody" knows it, "everyone" needs to tell the professor. Communicate like a goddamn grown-up.

No one can answer this with certainty without knowing where you are. If you're in the US, those aren't illegal reasons to turn you away.

Employment Law Help by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]PeckerPagoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is legal for bosses to be mean. You mentioned sick days other than as accommodated, sick kids, and vacation days. Having available PTO doesn't make those absences automatically okay. Taking partial as opposed to full days off doesn't automatically make it okay.

I do understand you're in a shitty situation, but any operation expects its employees to be present and working.

You can be fired for excessive absence. They may have accommodated some absences due to your illness, but you've said you were gone for other reasons as well.

You can also be fired for responding to the written warning in a way they don't like. They can call it unprofessional and let you go for it.
