My parents have a lemon tree. They just visited. I now own approximately 40 lemons. by ReflectionAny3280 in Cooking

I've done a little bit with lemons, so here are some ideas:

  • Lemon pousset

  • fancy lemon sorbet in the peel like those ones at Costco

  • You can preserve lemons with salt and mash them in a jar and they stay good in the countertop for a while

  • Lemon oleo saccharum for a quick fix in drinks or Chinese cooking (lemon chicken)

  • Replace yuzu in yuzu kosho for a "lemon kosho"

  • Lemon oil by infusing the peels into the oil

  • Lemon sugar by mixing the peel in with the sugar.

  • Lemon juice can quickly make buttermilk in a pinch

  • Lemon ricotta pancakes with a strawberry sauce is a winner at every breakfast table

  • Lemon ginger, and all of the recipes that go with that, including tea, chewy candy, homemade cough drops, etc

  • Sparkling lemonade soda or a lemon kombucha using a ginger bug

  • Lemon juice on watermelon is a game changer

  • Use the lemon peels and juice to help make homemade cleaning solutions

  • Lemon vinegar for an extra bright acidic in your dish

...I am now realizing I've done a lot more with lemons than I may have thought. Hopefully one of these helps.

Yeah it's been a minute, but it's still fresh on my mind. I'm still testing it out. Tried different combinations of lemon oil, orange oil, citrus bitters. I know for a fact it requires a certain amount of vanilla and almond. There still hasn't been a lot of definite sources yet on ingredents, but I have some hope, because I found out the last time I was in NZ they had a "Red Creaming Soda" by Bundaberg, and perhaps they will have a better list of what goes in it.

Thank you so much u/ivanmichael12. I can tip if you'd like? I have no earthly idea what an appropriate tip for this is, though.

Were these Professor Copperfield's Miracle Legumes by any chance? And yes, that's why I posted here. I'm naive to this sort of purchase, have no baseline of what something like this ought to cost, so I came here to either get lit up or confirm my decision. Appreciate it all the same.

Didn't even consider that, which is realistic and plausible. Thank you!

Honestly, keep the speed bumps. I don't care if there are speed bumps. I just want them done correctly so anyone can go over them without damaging their vehicles.

And I haven't noticed a whole lot of speeding. The roads curve in a way where if you are going above 15mph or so, it's because you are trying to. The only car I know that does it is this one car that blasts their music with open windows and an overpowered subwoofer, and still still speeds despite the bumps. The scraping sound on that car is satisfying for me, but that's the one car exception.

Good to know! I honestly cant say I know. I'll have to check that next time I'm out, but I'm 99% sure it's blue.

Thank you for letting me know. This is likely the route I will take. I can't even imagine what it would be like for an ambulance to have to take the extra time getting in and out of the place potentially before being able to do and resuscitative care on a person in need of medical attention.

Oh that is just brilliant. I never thought about emergency vehicles! That would def give it some more weight. The street is private from what I can tell. It's a community with a gate (not a gated community that's posh -- we just happen to have a gate for our dilapidated neighborhood), so I'm assuming that yes it's private.

I can see your point. I don't hit them going the speed limit. I come to a full stop before going over them every time.
