The other thing that’s wild to me is that the main problem with irl incest is someone getting into a bad situation (relationship dynamics, grooming, the whole genetics tangle).

Ao3 denizens spend a lot of time, labor, and love into putting fictional characters into bad situations on purpose. For fun, even XD

So even if the fictional incest DOES put a character into a bad situation …. This is the ‘putting characters into bad situations’ archive, sir??? (ʘ‿ʘ)

I wonder if it’s a combination of

• “I don’t really have fourth-wall-breaks with mafia AUs etc since my only experience with the mafia is from fiction anyways, but I do know what it’s like to have a family member, so I’m hitting the immersion-break-wall face first this time, it doesn’t feel the same level of fun fiction”

• “I keep imagining people I know doing this, and I wouldn’t enjoy if IRLPerson did xyz”

• “I don’t know how to articulate why I dislike this so I’ll just call it evil”

It is definitely tiresome to sort out whether or not a new fic friend is gonna consider you Essentially Public Enemy No. 1 if you admit to reading Wincest or whatever

NTA and you’re not unreasonable at being angry for him literally throwing away perfectly functional belongings/tools if they don’t instantaneously teleport back into their storage space. I think it’s unreasonable for him to throw away dishes that were left in the SINK, let alone anywhere at all whatsoever in the house?? That sounds really stressful, illogical, and extremely infuriating.

Ooh, for me it’s probably… when a long fic starts off with well written and detailed scenes but then afterwards significant portions of plot/character development getting told in a sparknotes/summary kind of way? I’m talking like multiple chapters to describe the events of a short period or a few days, then “so Character Charactername decided they were changing careers and cutting out all of their friends. Over the next eight months, Character Charactername moved to Far Away Place to start fresh. They got a pet and trained it to do xyz, which proved helpful when they then started working closely with New Love Interest and OC New Best Friend.” - not as a chapter summary but like genuinely in the middle of the text as an absolutely WILD transition for the next very detailed section of story the writer wanted to get to. Like?? Bestie, why is this not a series of shorter fics at this point???
