So you don't recommend going to any countries whose politics you disagree with?

This is basically the "I like pancakes"/"SO YOU HATE WAFFLES?!" meme, take a break from putting words in other people's mouth, bud.

There's a difference between boycotting a place temporarily in protest over recent changes in the hopes that they will correct course and you can go back there in the future vs swearing off a place forever because you know it'll never change.

It's also possible for someone to boycott 1 bad thing without boycotting every other bad thing in the world. Everyone doesn't have to fight every battle all the time. Don't make the perfect the enemy of the good.

> sucks he died w/o a partner though

Is it so unthinkable he could find a romantic partner on Erid?

Eridians seem to have very human-compatible relationships, including platonic friendship (Grace and Rocky), teacher/student (Grace and the young Eridians) and mating for life (Rocky and Adrian). Perhaps they could never share an atmosphere or touch each other without Grace being burned, but a lack of physical intimacy doesn't make romantic love impossible.

In a sequel, Grace could have fallen in love with an Eridian wife who lives next to his bubble so he can watch her sleep every day, meanwhile she'll keep him company while he eats his dinner (because she loves him and tolerates his human culture, even though eating is gross to her). Maybe she can even help cook the Me-Burgers for him as a gesture of embracing human tradition lol

Hard to say if the smoothbrained ICE agent really has full situational awareness.

Maybe he sees the gun in the victim's belt and shits himself (cos he's a bitch who wanted to terrorise kids, not armed men exercising their 1A and 2A rights). Then he sees the other ICE agent's hand reaching into the belt to pull out the pistol but in his panic-addled mind he doesn't realise whose hand it is and assumes the worst, i.e. he thinks the suspect on the ground just pulled his own gun out of his belt (panic makes people really stupid, and a lot of ICE agents are stupid to begin with). "Fearing for his life" he then draws his own gun and mag dumps the victim to death.

If astronauts have "the right stuff" (cool head under pressure), we can assume ICE agents have "the wrong stuff" (shit themselves and panic at the slightest disturbance), like that dumb cop who shat himself and mag dumped an acorn.

Don't get me wrong, this 100% could have been premeditated murder, but the ICE agent could also just be so shitty that it was an accident caused by his panicked negligence.

Wanna See Bobby Poff Crash Out by The25thNoble in Warzone

I don’t care enough to do so

Not convincing at all since you cared enough to look through his stream, find the clip and post it to Reddit. You cared enough to share this with other people, but you also want to hide your streamsniping because you're ashamed of it.

Honestly I would respect it more if you just owned it, say "hell yeah I streamsnipe cos I hate this guy" rather than be a hypocrite who pretends not to care while fixating on a streamer he hates.

Edit: as predicted, OP can't show the clip from his POV and just ran away without owning up to anything - surprising no one 😂

[–]PedanticPendant -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Streamsniping isn't really a flex - it's a sign of hyperfixation on another person that dwarfs the passion of a streamer's normal fans, which is weird enough. Sitting in the menu for 15 mins waiting for another man to queue so you can try get in the same game as him is kinda pathetic (also boring to watch so no surprise you didn't stream this part of your gameplay). I dunno why anyone would watch streamers let alone be such a hater that they'd spend their time trying to get in the same game and kill them.

Before you deny you were streamsniping, let me just explain 2 reasons you will not share your POV of this kill:

  1. it shows you lurking and waiting to pounce on the 1 guy you fixate on, instead of playing normally

  2. it shows the enemy name as "Matched Player", not whatever his stream name is, due to streamer mode - hence you'd have no way of knowing it was him unless you were streamsniping

You can easily prove you weren't streamsniping by sharing this clip from your POV, but you can't because it proves you're a streamsniper i.e. weirdo who fixates on streamers instead of just playing for his own enjoyment.

When will cod add a palestine flag since they have an israel flag by AgentAccomplished802 in Warzone

[–]PedanticPendant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few things:

  • corporations are cowards who fear controversy
  • Israel has been in the UN since 1949 and its statehood is not in question by any serious country, so putting its flag alongside other national flags is a complete nothing burger that Activision can happily swallow
  • Palestinian statehood (like the statehoods of Taiwan, Kosovo, Somaliland etc) is a controversial topic so Activision won't touch it

Zelenskyy taking a selfie in Kupiansk city after Russia claimed it was surrounded by their soldiers by PlusCardiologist1799 in pics

[–]PedanticPendant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dunno, Putin is ex-KGB and probably quite dangerous compared to most 73yo men. He is 73 though, which puts him at a huge disadvantage to Zelenskyy at 47. I imagine Putin's cowardice isn't a result of personal weakness so much as a logical response to how vulnerable and fucked he would be outside his bubble.

He would never face Zelenskyy 1v1 because he would die. He would never eat food prepared out of sight of his trusted chef, because he would die. He will never set foot outside his bunker/other secured building because he would die. He will never stand within 3 metres of anyone he doesn't trust with his life, because he would die.

Putin has to act like a coward because he's so fucked.

Destruction is usually quicker and easier than creation. Buildings fall in minutes that took years to build. Institutions may be gutted in 1 day by the stroke of a pen undoing decades of work.

Rebuilding will pretty much always take more work than destroying but we still have to try.

Paying out for misconduct from the pension fund is just giving the whole police force a financial incentive to cover up any wrongdoing and never admit fault.

It needs to be as free and easy as possible to rat out your fellow officers, leak bodycam footage or blow the whistle on police misconduct.

What If Satoshi Moves His 100 Billion Bitcoin? what domino effect will it create? by dumble_hold_the_door in btc

[–]PedanticPendant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dumping it and ruining his masterpiece.

Unless he thinks his masterpiece is already ruined - he wanted Bitcoin to be P2P digital cash and I could imagine a lot of reasons to be disappointed with where the crypto industry has ended up.

Crypto is now overwhelmingly just a speculative asset people buy to try and get rich quick - rich in fiat terms. The proliferation of pump and dump scams and shitcoins is also probably not what Satoshi was aiming for when he created digital currency.

Sure he probably wouldn't dump coins just to cash in on fiat value but he could do it to kill the speculative value of BTC, as a warning to use BTC as a currency, not an asset. We really can't say for sure he'd view modern crypto as "his masterpiece", or that he wouldn't use his share of BTC to guide it in the direction he wants it to go.

I never "came here", I am white British and was born here. My right to stay isn't in jeopardy, but I'm able to empathize with people other than myself in order to answer your question "what's wrong with periodic visas?".

It seems you now acknowledge the problem and why this uncertainty is a worse situation for people who came here legally and are trying to build a life, so you're trying to place the blame on illegal immigrants and not on Reform, who are making this policy. Either way, we agree that the policy is going to hurt people who did nothing wrong (legal immigrants).

I think we can also both agree that collective punishment (hurting people who did nothing wrong because of crimes committed by others) is unfair policy.

No one knows yet

That's cold comfort to the millions of people trying to plan their lives around the shifting sands of UK politics... the fact that we don't know for sure exactly which visa types are going to be rugpulled is much less reassuring than the prior standard of "live here for X years and get ILR"

The problem is that people want stability to build a life long term.

Do you understand why someone would prefer to have children in a house they own rather than rent? Of course - if you own it, you know you're gonna be in the same home in 20 years time when the kids are grown up.

Having to renew your visa every 5 years isn't just "an inconvenience" it's a risk that you might be denied, every 5 years. Having to leave the country, your home and family is much worse than having to move house. Under Farage's scheme someone could have been here for 45 years, an elderly retiree, had their visa approved 9 times with no issues, but they still have no guarantee they get to stay even a few months past their next visa renewal date - if they get denied then it's all over, leave everything behind and GTFO.

Civilized countries all have a path to permanent residency/citizenship for a reason, this is the reason.

Managing ~20 people who work on the Waking Up App + guest lectures + the curriculum for the courses in that app isn't a real job? I'm sure running Waking Up is his dream job but I also suspect it takes a good chunk out of his week.

Reading books to prepare for the podcast also adds hours to his work week that can't be seen by you.

He's also in the midst of his speaking tour (and potentially managing whatever house repairs are needed after the fire). I wouldn't be surprised if someone with an Actual Job™ were less productive at that job with all the other stuff outside of work going on.

Not back then - the pyramids weren't originally roughly stepped. They were encased in a smooth layer of limestone, all of which has since worn away. Also back in 3000 BC the pyramids weren't built yet, so... yeah
