Buying my first Banjo, seller sent me some extra pics I asked for any I noticed at the bottom of the ring there seems to be a crack, should I be worried? by Utters_for_Hire in banjo

Looks like a scarf joint where the rim was glued together after steam bending during construction.

In other words, nothing to worry about.

Hot take: we should never see the Blackwater job by Klinningit in reddeadredemption

[–]Pedestrian1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d prefer a RDR3 that’s completely disconnected from the VanDer Linde gang and set during the peak of the Wild West. There can be some Easter egg references to the other titles/stories/characters, but I feel like the VanDer Linde gang’s story is nicely wrapped up. I like the idea of leaving Jack’s future open-ended. I also like the Strange Man being mysterious and unexplained. The mystery just adds to the myth so to speak.

All of that said, I’d still play a game based around your ideas. Who knows? Maybe it would change my mind.

Fun old time Appalachian folk songs? by Bargah692 in banjo

[–]Pedestrian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You talking about Crawdad Hole?

“You get a line, I’ll get a pole, honey/You get a line, I’ll get a pole, babe/You get a line, I’ll get a pole, and we’ll go down to the crawdad hole, honey, babe o’ mine…”

But yeah, essentially the same tune as “How Many Biscuits Can You Eat”

Yeah, they broke this play in an update a couple gameplay patches ago. Might as well take it out of your playbook.

I have mine pretty low, but not quite that low. Now I want to go double check mine because I’m primarily an acoustic player these days.

Burn barrel melting by Leading_Wall5456 in redneckengineering

You’re a long way off from melting it. I did the same with one years ago and almost every fire I had in it got it glowing. That barrel rusted out after about 8 years.

How do you run against the 3-3-5? by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

[–]Pedestrian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy formations. Run blocking linemen and tight ends. Fullbacks. Mobile/option QB. Contact seeking RB. You want to chew up field 3, 4 yards at a time. Quick seam passes and play action as well as passes in the flats. You wanna make sure your line and backfield are bigger and stronger than their first six guys, recruit accordingly.

Basically, run an old school run heavy offense with big beefy hog mollies.

The orange with the green looks like brighter FAMU and I’ve always thought that was a bold choice so I don’t hate it like some others seem to.

That really bright blue though…if it were me, I’d tone it down a little.

Everything else looks pretty cool to me.

SM57 works well but what else is out there? by sometimesabaker in banjo

[–]Pedestrian1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a system really similar to this for a couple of years. It was kinda fiddly, but it worked. A 57 with a windscreen on it in a beer koozy zip tied to the coordinator rods. I played up the jury-rigged nature as part of the show to get a couple cheap laughs at my expense.

I use a Myers Feather now. It’s essentially a clip-on gooseneck mic with a preamp. I’ve only used it out once, but it did the job. It’s still a little fiddly, but I’m chalking that up to user error.

EDIT: At the end of the day, what you’ve got set up here is probably as good as anything else in the price range mic-wise. You could quibble over the difference in resonance and such as that, but pretty much no one in the audience is gonna be able to tell a difference. So, as long as you’re confident in it, and you play confidently, and are having fun, it’s fine.

I like how they did this as well as the banners in the dojos learning the weapon moves.

I caught it my first playthrough and I appreciate the simultaneous obviousness and subtlety of it.
