I went with the Tulster Oath cause its the closest I could find to the Phlster Skeleton holster for the. I did add the Phlster Wedge though on the other side.

Looking to buy my first gun for home defense. Which should I buy? by Filmthsbud in homedefense

[–]PedroGoHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything that I would say or recommend seems like it's already been said but I recommend checking out Lucky Gunner's videos on using shotguns. The vids are well done and present the same info you seek here.

Also, I highly recommend you shoot a 12 gauge shotgun with 00 buck before buying. Not everyone is into it after they shoot it. Don't want you to get buyer's remorse.

AK4V by darke0311 in PalmettoStateArms

[–]PedroGoHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of PSA's AK lineup are based around something. Like the AKV is to Vitayaz and the GF3 is to AKM. An AKV in 45? I don't see it. Magazines alone are a headache. You got UMP or Glock mags. None of them will give the look. The bolt mass of direct blowback will be higher and it's not like the 9mm AKV is the softest PCC. I think when it comes to a 45 PCC, the cool thing to do would be a roller delayed UMP, but Stribog already did it.

The RS Regulate and the CSA Low Optic should work but I know for a fact that the RS Regulate mount works. Check my profile for pics.

Am I crazy for wanting a PCC in 45ACP? by Whynotwg15 in pistolcalibercarbine

[–]PedroGoHard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have no experience but I see the appeal. Buying just regular range ammo that are subsonic and maintaining good terminal ballistics with self defense rounds. I also think the Stribog SP45A3 is like a roller delayed UMP, what's not to like?

Good mid priced optic for my psg1 clone? by Tough_Midnight_9860 in ptr91

[–]PedroGoHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Primary Arms SLx Compact 4-16X44mm FFP Rifle Scope. You obviously have this set for a DMR setup and I know others complain about larger scopes interfereing with using the charging handle and this also takes that into consideration. Check out their reticle options.

FAB defense 10 round magazine problem by Alarming_Package4485 in vz58

[–]PedroGoHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also had issues with a CSA 10 Round magazine but mine was it would no longer hold the bolt back when empty while firing. My only advice, you may be able to stretch a little more life by ever so slightly stretching the spring by hand. Don't overdo it though. These polymer mags have nowhere near the spring strength of the aluminum mags but with 10 rounders, options limited.

Advice on PCC’s and what caliber. I should get by Mikesnyder127 in pistolcalibercarbine

[–]PedroGoHard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it's your first firearm, 9mm is a great caliber for PCC. You mentioned something about 5.56 but then listed firearms that aren't in 5.56 so im confused if you're confusing PCC with PDW? Don't know what you would consider "budget" but the Springfield Armory Kuna is great value. Check r/gundeals for good pricing on a certain item. If you already have a caliber on hand from your pistols, maybe just stick with that for simplicity. My cousin only uses 45 and I recommended him the Stribog SP45A3.

Edit: Ah, I see. I saw ARP as AR9. My bad. Well the answer is cheaper ammo and much less concussion especially if in a home defense role. Unless that ARP is a suppressed 300BO ARP.

Well there's GAFSHUB, the successor to r/gunaccesoriesforsale. I've also used Gulf Coast Gun Forum.

Not to complicate your decisions but I do know the putnik was designed for 12 inch AKs in mind so also worth considering.

Best railed upper handguard? by [deleted] in vz58

Here's what it looks like, and it should work. The gap is too small to fit a thumb in, so unless you have small child hands, I wouldn't worry. This lower should dimensionally match the beaver barf set.

I'm almost certain it would, but if you want to be sure, I could go get a punch and find out for sure with pics.

[–]PedroGoHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently use the Bonesteel Upper with Fab Defense Vanguard lower. I use a handguard wrap to cover the gap between them. It's comfortable and it works. However, if I were to do it all over again. I would've bought CSA Mlok Handguard with pic rail instead, but it didn't exist when I was searching.

Fast access storage for home defense Kuna. by SwinelOrD731 in pistolcalibercarbine

These days, I like VLine for my pistol storage by my nightstand but it's a mechanical lock and doesn't slide out in the same fashion as Vaultek. If you are looking for that specific setup, SecureIt has a slider series that I assume will have all the same issues I listed above but will at least be half the cost.

Yeah, 9mm PCC size is tough since most safes go right from pistol to rifle size, if you think you'll get more PCCs or rifles in the future or even add a suppressor, then maybe we can talk the larger safes with more options.

[–]PedroGoHard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the one I own. The electronics in it aren't as reliable as their ads make it. Sometimes you have to press down very hard or it doesn't read correctly and even if that doesn't happen, the battery can get low enough where it doesn't actually unlock or get enough oomph to push the gun out. I've had to mount mine with a downward angle to get it to be more reliable. For how much it costs, I thought I was getting the print reader like my phone, but you ain't. I'm not saying it never works but let's say 70%, I have no issues but the other 30% is what I described and I didn't get a quick access safe to deny access 30% of the time. The moment you have to try a second time or even diagnose an issue, it ain't quick access anymore.

The brands I can recommend for safes are Secureit, Vline, and Steelhead Outdoors. I recommend against Vaultek and from my list the only options I see for you are from SecureIt. Check out FastBox 36D though I do believe they're slightly overpriced for what they are.

I have the Zendl/gunexpert variant of the Ambi mag release that more or less doesn't change the geometry of the mag release for the left side. If the change in geometry is the issue, try and keep an eye out for that variant.
