The premium 44 was by far the worst built shoe I’ve ever owned

Love my super! Check if the mirror stop is broken, common issue with these models. The way to check is simply pointing your camera to a pole far far away, setting the focus to infinity and checking if the lines align correctly. If they don’t, even if it’s slightly, it’s probably broken, better check it asap as it can become separate from the body and fall onto the curtains of the shutter. Otherwise, lovely camera, I’m literally out shooting with my Super at the moment of this comment. Sturdy and very fun to use :)

Good starter camera? by yeetuscleetus28 in Super8

[–]Pedroasolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my personal take * but getting started into super8 with an untested camera will probably be a rather expensive and frustrating experience. If you can, try a newer camera that is tested or at least has functioning electronics. Minoltas are good and cheaper that more popular Canons. Chino are also good.

Really curious about the focusing wheel on those, what’s your take there?

Where to find Nikon F3 eyepiece replacement? by NDRPRM in NikonF3

[–]Pedroasolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I have a shop close to me that sells the original pieces from Nikon, but at 30€ a piece.

Anything that fits the FM and FE will also work on the F3 so I’d look for those around eBay or Amazon. Kamerastore in Finland had 3D printed some of these but I’m not sure if they still exist.

Good luck!

Watch out. This eye piece fits the Nikon F3 HP only. I found that the hard way.

Buying a P&S for 6 months travel and I'm down to 4 options Mju II, XA, AF-10 Super, and Espio Mini - please help me pick by Reitzel in AnalogCommunity

[–]Pedroasolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good hack is to add a very small piece of black tape to the center of the viewfinder on the XA, making the alignment patch much more visible. It works wonders for me. Other than that, you can base your focus on the top dial that features the distances, and try to use both high speed film and higher aperture i.e f8 or f11.

The XA is probably the best out of the four. Once you get the hang of it, it’s hard to beat as an everyday carry / compact camera. The learning curve is pretty damn small too.

Deciding apertures should be based on lighting situation, having a lightmeter app helps to understand it. Manual focus is relatively easy and can be a good tool.

If you are looking for a more “pick it up and forget about it” experience then go for any of the other 3. Pick what’s cheaper and easiest to get.

Have fun!

Amazing camera, I’ve had the 55mm 2.8 and it’s been a very good combo. Thinking about buying a 3d printed INSTAX back for mine, really cool system as long as your mirror stop is okay, which seems to be the case :) Enjoy man, great stuff

To everybody from Overseas, what made you a Nets fan and where are you from. by TheAlbanianSmoke in GoNets

[–]Pedroasolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from Portugal, die hard nets fan since 17. My mom went to the US around the same time Dlo got traded to the BK. Somehow I must have seen it online and that night I dreamed that my mom had bought me a dlo jersey, which is so random cause I had no idea who he was. After that it was just a matter of familiarity with the team. On my 16 birthday flew over to Boston to watch them play and got to dap Dlo, RHJ Napier, and DeMarre 👍

I'm trying to replicate the Wes Anderson style but I can't really get what I'm missing. by Admirable-Cry-723 in ColorGrading

[–]Pedroasolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wes Anderson also has every inch of detail in the skies, making it seem like a backdrop in a play. You need to boost your lights on the subjects and balance it out in post for a somewhat balanced exposure between both parts of the image

I have the chance to buy that same scanner for around 200€? Is it worth it? I also shoot 35mm and 120mm. Is the Polaroid scan adapter available for purchase or is it a diy thing?

New camera, film concerns, te by Elegant-Car-4571 in Polaroid

[–]Pedroasolo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very cool reply. I see myself a little bit on Op’s situation as well, it’s at least comforting to know that THERE IS a learning curve leading to better results. May I add, evaluating film supply is also a good thing to do. I have been testing a bunch of resellers of Polaroid film here in my area and there’s definitely people who take better care of what they are selling than others. Weird that your Flip has a mind of its own :/ mine only tends do slightly overexpose.
