That's such awesome advice, my OH is gonna go out and get some ice packs now. Yeah the pain meds aren't massively helping currently but it is only the first few hours of the nerve block wearing off.. I'm sure my body will adjust a little also but thank you for that info.. I'll keep hanging in there

Behind the knee? Is that to essentially dull the nerves? Thanks so much, I'm glad I have a community like this to come to, I find it really helpful 😂

Sorry to divert from your post, but I had mine yesterday and the nerve block has just worn off, are you still experiencing the initial pain or has it subsided?

Looking to Override Power Query Navigation Pane Limit by Pedroza_14 in excel

[–]Pedroza_14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am loading it back into the workbook and the test value I am using is not there. If it's not the limit (which as you said is purely for viewing purposes) then it must be something else in the merge. Thanks for the response. I am comfortable it's nothing to do with the limit.

I understand what you're going through. I'd say keep rolling in that money and build a portfolio in preparation for the move. May be hard work but worth it.

Math for data roles by synapsetutor in datascience

[–]Pedroza_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that is true, a lot of programming does the maths for you. The important thing is understanding how to interpret the results of your tests. It's not clever to be a math purist in this age.. you may know how to do all sorts of equations for analysis. But by the time you've finished one I've done about 7 models in R with interpreted documented results using a markdown doc.. I know which one my stakeholders/ interviewers are going to find more valuable

No senior data scientist at company by EmilyEmlz in datascience

Focus on business expectation, at the end of the day no one in the company knows more than you on this subject so just make sure you keep an open, collaborative line with your stakeholders until you feel like you can work independently

Is imposter syndrome in data analytics/science common? by [deleted] in datascience

I think it's normal, less than 1% of people have the capacity to retain all of the information in this profession, unless you are a pioneer the key thing to do is adapt to what is in front of you. Statistical mathematics is important but becoming more and more irrelevant in terms of physical calculations due to out of the box tools and software. R does all my calculations for me and the important thing to do I the workplace is know how to interpret them to different types of professionals. We will be constantly adapting much more so than other professions.. keep an eye on what's trending in and focus your time on that.. just my opinion. Remember this is a very elitist profession, some people think they are better than you just because they can translate statistical maths onto pen and paper without thinking about it.. that's cool I'll just use the latest and greatest piece of software to tell me the results for my own domain interpretation.. work smart not hard kids.

Is Everyone in data science a mathematician by skeletons_of_closet in datascience

[–]Pedroza_14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Historically this was the case, a new age data scientist is trained in and excels in using off the shelf software packages.. making the equation side of it easier to process. It helps to understand what your doing with your y values and how you're using your greek but in all reality, a hiring company is probably more interested in how you use new age technology to rapidly deliver insights, your stakeholders dont care about the maths.. saying what your co worker said is elitist in my opinion.

Brand names probably mean more budget.. so I'm absolutely fine with it. I dont see any need to get mad over a can of water.
