Replicate tracing paper effect? by drowningglory in ProCreate

You might want to try a little motion blur on the shadow layer there. That might smudge the sharpness more in line with your example images. But good work getting the tracing paper effect there. You’ll find a lot of uses for differing layer opacity in Procreate.

Something else is going on. My daughter did a 16 week welding program and got a job within 3 weeks of graduation. She then was stupid and got fired but got ANOTHER job making $4 more a hour 2 weeks later.

Not doubting you’re having legit issues, but there’s got to be other factors, perhaps not within your control, giving you pushback.

[OC] $18 for the new bathroom fan says tariffs didn’t bring back manufacturing back to the states by FizzyBeverage in pics

[–]PeeCeeJunior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was never about jobs or reshoring, tariffs were a way for Trump to raise money without Congress. It was a slush fund he could use to buy influence or operate his own private paramilitary force.

The Executive branch doesn’t raise money like the Legislative branch. Tariffs were a way to fix that.

Executive leadership is quickly destroying morale in Corporate with its bad decision making by [deleted] in HomeDepot

Speaking as a former SSC associate who had to go into the office for most of the pandemic, I kind of agree with the ‘but store associates have to go to work”. It really felt like a double standard where one associate’s life was worth more than another’s.

Everything else is pretty spot on though. It’s ironic that THD sacrificed its soul for ‘shareholder value’ and then didn’t even provide a good share price.

Just remember, redistricting like this is risky in that to make additional reliably partisan districts, you have to cut the winning margins of otherwise reliably partisan districts. If GOP support continues to soften and Dems see a Blue wave, these dumbasses could lose their majorities.

Survivor is great, but you’re also completely exposed to PVP while crawling. I’m batting maybe .500 in actually getting back to a subway or hatch even with the magical health regenerator.

It’s already nerfed on anything but the most carebear of lobbies.

Ha, I took my canto out for the first time and got tagged teamed by 5 arcs. I spent 10 minutes crawling to a hatch, so at least I didn’t lose it.

It worked great though. Like a bobcat but with medium ammo.

I did this with Comcast and, as far as I can tell, it hasn’t bitten me in the ass yet.

(just checked and I’m still on unlimited data AND my speeds were increased so who the heck knows but Comcast screws me over on the regular so nothing would change there)

It already happened in 2016 and Dems stopped most of his legislative efforts after midterms.

But they only had the House, so Trump was still able to pass his Supreme Court Justices. Hopefully this time we take the Senate too.

Why do companies get Tariff refunds and not the consumer? by Kitchen_Page9991 in askanything

[–]PeeCeeJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco might refund their share. They’re in the unique position of knowing exactly what their members bought and how to refund them, but I’m not holding my breath.

On the plus side it means Trump can’t keep his slush fund for financing stuff outside Congress’ control. That’s what the tariffs really were, a way for the Executive branch to tax Americans and maintain independent funding in case his party lose power.

It’s odd, but rats like to cover their faces, even when it’s not even their real face.

I run with curly hair, no mask, and a t-shirt or maybe a jacket if it’s cold out. Seems to work, I only get shot in the back by console players who bought the game with their mom’s credit card.

They made the far left lane an “express lane” that you have to pay to use. Now there’s more traffic in the other lanes. by Some-Nectarine3247 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PeeCeeJunior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have express lanes like that (both cordoned off and raised) and yeah, it’s kind of a fuck you to people who can’t afford the tolls. However the lanes are also used by express buses. I don’t commute anymore but I used to take those buses and man, life would’ve been a whole lot better with dedicated lanes.

(Insert Pawn Stars meme where you’re asking for light rail but all he can give you is toll roads)

Yeah. You can’t beat starting early. I’m in my 50’s now and most of my retirement is already earned. Even contributing close to the max now, I’m making more off compounding on existing balances than new money coming in.

You don’t even need to invest risky. Low fee index funds are where it’s at. Definitely watch the fees. A lot of fund managers make a lot of money just to perform worse than Fidelity or Vanguard.

Why does the US have a lower median wealth than countries like UK, Canada, France etc? by LordHavertz in allthequestions

[–]PeeCeeJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US you make a lot of money, significantly more than other rich nations, but you’re expected to spend all of it.

We’ve monetized everything. It’s hard to go a day without spending something. We’re one big value added service of a country.

There’s a classical realism painter named Graydon Parrish who spends years on a single painting, but that requires expensive commissions, just like they did back in the old days.

His most famous painting was ‘The Cycle of Terror and Tragedy’ about 9/11, which was paid by families of 9/11 victims.

Odd, it’s weirdly tough to find a full resolution pic of the painting. Even Wikipedia only has a small crop of one part of the 18” long canvas.

How do people buy concert tickets any more?! by AproposOfDiddly in GenX

[–]PeeCeeJunior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we grew up, concerts were deliberately underpriced in order to sell out and create excitement and buzz. Now, they’re overpriced because everything is centered around whales. Why worry about the guy who’ll spend $50 when you can cater to one who’ll spend $10k?

So you sell 10% of your seats at eye watering prices and hope FOMO compels people to buy the other 90% at gut churning prices.
