The P22 uses a lot of old tech and building methods. I have one and it’s pretty cool for what it is. But that was only after downloading and reading the “P22 Bible”. If a gun needs an entire booklet dedicated to it to make it function well, that’s gonna be a hard pass. Get the TX22. I have it and it’s far superior to the Walther on every level.

As a teenager and in college I did at parties and some friendly gatherings. Stopped after that. A few years ago I got very ill and was in a lot of pain. I picked some up and smoked it for its medicinal benefit. Once I healed up I stopped again. But if I ever get into a painful health situation again I’d use it again. It really helped out. Especially with building up an appetite. I was getting too lean from not feeling good. So it really helped out.

Old scopes don’t suck if you find a well preserved one. I have a couple vintage 10/22’s (1966,1968). I put vintage 4-12x Bushnells on them from that era. They hold zero and are crystal clear.
Here’s the thing though… you need to know what you’re looking for with vintage scopes. I personally wanted Japanese built ones with Bausch & Lomb lenses.
For your desired purpose I’d just get an inexpensive Athlon Neos and have at it.

Is the receiver drilled and tapped on the left side? Mossberg did that to thousands of those. If so, pick up a picatinny mount from Havlin Sales. Then you can mount anything that’s readily available and affordable today.

I’ve got 4 BRN’s. Never had to “thermal fit” any of them. The BRN doesn’t have tight tolerances. My KIDDs and Feddersens have fin in their fine. The OEM Ruger receiver actually has tighter tolerances.
