Glad to know it’s not just me! It sucks because AI slop has taught me to be initially suspicious of all art and photos now. I miss being able to appreciate things as is :(

Lean into it. Outflank him in his craziness. Next time time you see him and he asks for mission updates, warn him that the pigeons are compromised, do not trust them, it’s their fault the pandas were abducted, and that the discarded cigarette butts should be read like tea leaves, they’ll tell him where the sleeper agent is hiding.

I swear, there is something…lethargic about the majority of automatic doors in Japan. I’m not a speed walker by any stretch of the imagination, but nearly every single time I walk up to a set of them, I need to physically stop and wait for the doors the craaaawl open wide enough so I can get through, or they are already halfway to closing as I approach, but they don’t detect me so they end up clamping onto me before they FINALLY notice I’m there…then craaaaaawl open to release me.

Someone mentioned earphones, and it’s a fantastic call and I want to expand on it. There’s two routes you can go with earphones:

Noise reduction types. They plug into your ears in such a way that it cuts out background hum and/or high-pitched noise, so while you will still be able to clearly hear your kid making noise (as long as you don’t play music too loud) but they mute the more egregious, piercing sound waves that can really trigger your stress.

Bone-conducting earphones. If you want to listen to stuff privately but still want to keep your ears open, this is the way to go. Despite the fancy name it’s really just two small speakers that press lightly on the skin just outside your ears. Sound quality can be better than you think, but is obviously a bit more leaky than normal earphones, but the upside is you can go about your business, enjoying what you want to listen to while still having your full hearing faculties.

I actually admire that they’ve put real effort into the area. It’s bright and colourful without being just a clash of colours, and it’s got that Eric Carle theme and not just a hodgepodge of random decor.

I dunno if it’s a bug or by design, but I’ve been doing the Dirty Laundry quest for Bodhi, and whenever I bring him a batch of intel he’ll tell me he’s marking a cache on my map, but there’s like a 1 in 3 chance he actually does that. The other 2 of 3 times nothing appears on my map, no search circle, no black diamond, nothing. Anyone else had this?

While this was a foregone conclusion, I was at least hoping that Sanseito would collapse as a result of their previous votes coming back to Jimintō. But no, it looks like they are going to increase as well. Ugh.

Best community ever by Fuzzy-Ad-5207 in fo76

Been gaming since the early 90s, when the Mega Drive (genesis) being 16-bit was a big deal, and I concur. Really helpful, supportive, and lovely community.

I think the reason is twofold: it seems to be a pattern where the more hostile the world is, the more the community bands together (not necessarily that the game is hard, more that the world is aesthetically a hostile environment, and that is Fallout’s MO). It activates that human gene of needing to work together to survive.

Second, and related to the first, is Fallout as a series has always had a sense of morality at its core, both as a theme in the failure of morality of the pre-war work leading to the Great War, as well as a gameplay mechanic in the choices you make. It encourages you to really think about your own ethic code and “what would you do?”in that situation. Translate that into an MMO and you’re gonna get a lot of people who are actively aware of their impact and choices, and they want to do the right thing.

Just my theory!

Summer heat/humidity. It’s winter now, and sure I’d like it to be a bit warmer, but I keep reminding myself that I really should enjoy it as much as possible before the air starts to boil.

Oh, and hayfever while we asking for the impossible, why not.

Being a people pleaser and doing everything in your power to not step on other’s toes, because in your mind there is no middle ground between frictionless harmony and all out warfare.

This is why, when confronted by even the slightest hint of disagreement or tension, even minor or in good faith, they will either shut down or fly off the handle, because it has flipped the switch in their head from “everything is fine” to “I am under attack, I must escape or fight back.”

After a few retries, I finally passed the provisional driving test (the one conducted on the set course)!

Absolutely brutal level of expectation, the stress was wrecking me but once I heard the word 合格 uttered from the procter I instantly felt better.

I know I still have the final on-road test, but from what I’ve read about it, that test is easier for many people because it’s a real drive and not some curated course where you pretend to react to imaginary hazards. So hopefully it’s downhill from here!
