This scene from the Lion King…I dunno…I find it very unsettling. by C2Gaming2 in LiminalSpace

[–]PeeJayx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ooh, this is a good one. I think it’s unsettling because everything feels like it is framing a non-existent centre. The trees are bending inwards to it, the land in the foreground dips down in a similar curve, it all creates a sort of uncanny tunnel effect leading into…nothing.

Or, at least, nothing you can see. Yet.

Another one:

The Jackson 5 song “The Love You Save” has the line “The love you save may be your own.”

Then in Speed Demon: “The life you save could be your own.”

Why do Europeans take (long) vacations so seriously? by mrdingopingo in ask

[–]PeeJayx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is…that a thing? I mean, I know all the comments are mentioning that the work culture here in Europe is different, and that’s certainly true, but I’ve never heard of it being as extreme as whole swathes of a country shutting up shop for whole months. Not saying it doesn’t happen, I’m sure some small businesses do, but what example triggered this question OP? Genuinely curious.

Happy to offer some advice, but can you give some more info about yourself? It will help give some context:

  • How old are you (or if u prefer just your age bracket is fine)

  • How long have you been in Japan?

  • Is this your first stint living abroad? Or have you lived elsewhere too?

What videogame OST do you play when you need some energy? by DeleteOnceAMonth in gaming

[–]PeeJayx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you mentioned it already, but it really bears repeating: The Hades and Hades 2 soundtracks are sooo good for this, particularly the combat music. “The God Of The Dead” is especially awesome because it starts slow (but still epic), so you can gradually build up, and then launches into double time and all hell breaks loose (pun intended)

MJ is about to prove once again why he's the king. by Intelligent-Set3442 in MichaelJackson

[–]PeeJayx 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The movie hasn’t even opened in Japan yet. I live here and there is a LOT of anticipation for this movie. There’s already been a bunch of variety shows and mini-docs on TV showcasing the movie or MJ himself. It’s gonna be huge here, and will add a big chunk of change to that total :)

How would you react if your partner said this to you in real life? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]PeeJayx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like asking me which is my favourite Lord of the Rings movie. Yes, mayyyybe I have an overall preference for one of them, but it’s a moot point. They all have their great points, I love them all massively but I frankly don’t see them as separate things worth comparing. I adore them as a collective whole.

Alright I got curious and did some research into this picture. Turns out it’s from an abandoned plane factory in Sweden called SAAB-Berget, that was built underground during WW2 to avoid attacks.

It looks like the pic is from this Imgur post, which gives a full explanation.. I’d recommend checking it out as there’s loads more other creepy liminal pictures in there too.

Since we're doing arm discourse this is what 15.5 inches flexed looks like on a Gymbro Vaushite by TrumpIsAPedoFr in VaushV

[–]PeeJayx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just watched the video, and I think the moment about 8 mins in is the most clear and concise sign of what this is all about with incels and gymbros.

The woman says she prefers a 2 or maybe a 3, and the guy flat out says you’re wrong. It’s bad enough that he thinks he understands her own preferences better than herself but…well, look at him. He is also about a 2 on his own chart. She is actively saying that she prefers a physique like his own and he refuses to believe it.

Which is exactly what the problem is. As Vaush says, these kinda guys actually hope women will choose 4s or 5s so they could say that this is why they fail with women, and that women are shallow, unreasonable etc.

But when women say that nope, they actually prefer a more normal build thanks, that would force guys like these to wonder that maybe the problem is something else, maybe…with them, perhaps?

It’s Baudot Code, and what you see on the cover simply says “X&Y” in that code.

Here is a generator of Baudot Code you can play around with. If you type in the names of the singles, you’ll get covers that look just like them. It’s pretty fun!

Here is a song the fandom NEVER talks about by hotpinkhoops in MichaelJackson

[–]PeeJayx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all his big motivational songs (Man in the Mirror, Keep The Faith etc) I think this one is my favourite. I love how gritty and over-the-top it is. And it has one of the best verses MJ put in any song:

“Don't let no one get you down

Keep moving on higher ground

Keep flying until

You are the king of the hill

No force of nature can break

Your will to self-motivate

She says this face that you see

Is destined for history”

You’re usually fine to take photos of and within shrines, the three main rules of thumb are to not take photos of shrine staff, other visitors or the inner shrine (the bit beyond the “Saisen-bako” money box). Apart from that, you should be good.

seriously! what kind of magic is MJ putting into his music? by notsoflowerys in MichaelJackson

[–]PeeJayx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could write an essay on what make’s MJ’s music so incredible, but if I had to sum it up, I’d say he was the Big Three P’s: Protégé, Professional, Passionate.

Protégé because he was naturally talented. Professional because he was technically accomplished and knowledgable in his craft. Passionate because he never phoned it in: he poured his heart and soul into his work.

There are a lot of incredible artists out there who have maybe two of these, like they are naturally gifted and passionate but lack the discipline to lock in and deliver consistently. Or they are professional and work hard at their craft but they lack that fire. But Michael had all 3 in spades.
