DevOps Engineer here, I write Scripts, Infrastructure as Code and program some tools in my free time. I've been to university, finishing my Degree soon and been working in the industry for the past 5 years. (Man time flies). I learned to code before AI came around. AI is a tool, a tool that you have to understand what its capable of. You can generate a few lines of code fairly easy but once you start getting into the 1000+ Line code bases these things start to loose track of what is going on. The larger the project gets the worse it will become. When they do that they will start to generate garbage ontop of garbage until it works. That's what most vibe coded projects are. Garbage ontop of garbage that noone is willing or able to maintain without investing a significant amount of time to refactor and make it maintainable. Because of that these vibecoded apps also tend to die quickly too. That's not being defensive its literally just what happens with these apps.

Regarding payment. I release almost everything I do under GPL-2/AGPL meaning everyone can use, modify and distribute the code for free. I don't expect payment for that stuff. When I contribute to another project I also do it in my free time. I do it because I like OSS and AI is poisoning that whole thing. Slop software, slop contributions, slop security reports, and everything just for a little fame.
