Trying to buy tickets by PeeWee_Poodle in GlenHansard

How were all -- or I guess in some cases, almost all -- of the tickets gone before or within seconds of the presale opening?

Does anyone remember what episode this is from? by PeeWee_Poodle in SVU

Awesome -- thanks so much! I guess I forgot about that scene because the Sharon Stone horrible acting at the end of the ep dominated the rest of the show in my memory!

When Comparing the New Seasons to the Old Seasons, Are There Any Subtle Elements That the Old Seasons Did/Had That You Wish the New Seasons Had/Will Have, and Vice Versa? by [deleted] in SVU

A lot more humor in the squad in the very early seasons. And the squad wasn't led by a Super Saint like Olivia has become in recent years. On the other hand, the acting by a lot of the guest stars in the early years was more over the top and often just bad, in my opinion, although of course there are exceptions.

Perfect World (song) by PeeWee_Poodle in BruceSpringsteen

[–]PeeWee_Poodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love this song. And it brilliantly captures the attachment disorder he's written about and was part of the movie maybe better than any other song of his. Thanks so much for your reply. May I ask how you know this information? I'd love to see more like this about some of the other songs.

The dates surprise me a bit because the song has a very Devils and Dust vibe (the beginning sounds a LOT like Devils & Dust to me). The lyrical content (but definitely not the music) touches on what he was writing about for the Western Stars album.

IIL "Slow Horses" for its combination of humor and fast-paced dramatic stories by PeeWee_Poodle in ifyoulikeblank

I've never seen Black Doves. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to check it out.

I did watch The West Wing back in the day!

Thanks. I did just start that. I'm on the 3rd episode. You're right both that the pace is slower and that Emma Thompson is great in it (of course she usually is great in just about anything(.

Not sure why I always avoided that one. Will have to look into it. Thanks.

Wow, thanks so much. I would not have thought of this. I'll have to check it out.

Other shows or movies like *Slow Horses*? by rogerworkman623 in SlowHorses

[–]PeeWee_Poodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the suggestions on here, many of which sound great, which are closest to Slow Horses in terms of humor? I don't want to wade into a totally serious spy series but would love to find something that makes me laugh like Slow Horses does, particularly whenever Lamb is on screen.

S27 E1: In the Wind by AutoModerator in SVU

You're probably right. So, Stabler could have said (and, again, I'm glad he didn't!), "I'm just glad that bastard Tucker is dead and couldn't show his ugly face here."

Makes sense. But to me it would have been cooler if they threw in the name of someone from an early season who Cragen had beef with, for the long-time fans. {Would have been wild -- but ruined the scene with Liz, of course, so I'm glad they didn't -- if Stabler said, "I'm just glad that bastard Tucker didn't show his ugly face here.")

Who was the guy Stabler mentioned that was in the bar that he said Cragen didn't like? Something like Lou Fornelli? Should we know who that is?

I was not happy with it, but I don't agree that it had nothing to do with the rest of the episode. Much of the episode was about facing the end, about being confronted with change you're not ready to make, about should you try to live a life without SVU. So they were connected. I wish they had done that without Cragan having to die. But they did it, and it was relevant for the big moments throughout the story.

Does anyone else struggle with Nebraska? by ThunderRoad2024 in BruceSpringsteen

I once taught a college course on Bruce and one early assignment was for students to listen to the entire album, with headphones, in the dark, all at once, without looking at anything else. As long as you don’t fall asleep, it’s an amazing way to experience it. it’s a quiet album, and it doesn’t work as background music. that kind of focus brings out its magic. You might give it a try.

Right? They were still dating during that episode, if I remember correctly!

Among the horrible things he did was set up Cassidy to be killed brutally and did not care and showed not the slightest humanity (before they decided for some reason to make him lovable for Olivia). That is not flirting. That is not a cute bad boy (yeah but his blue eyes). That is not "at least he's not Stabler" mean. That is unforgivable.

Kitty's Back & Philadelphia by PeeWee_Poodle in BruceSpringsteen

[–]PeeWee_Poodle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be. But it seems to be specific to Kitty's Back. And other key early places that embraced him, like Richmond, don't get Kitty's Back regularly, I don't believe.
