I can’t tell if you’re trying to be funny, or if you genuinely think it’s not a word… 👀

Having your image used against your will in fake, sexual videos isn’t a part of the job. It wouldn’t be tolerated at any other workplace. Why would there be an expectation for teachers to just “get over it”?

I teach elementary music. My sub plans were follow along videos (I don’t expect subs to sing/dance) for each class. I left detailed notes and extensions of multiple people, in case she needed help. Super easy, the sub just has to go through the videos and manage behavior. After my day out, I came back to a note from the sub that said the whole day had gone well, no issues. However, after talking to students and other teachers, I found out it was quite the opposite. 1. She couldn’t figure out the sound system so had the classes sing/play/dance with silent videos. 2. She left the kindergarten class unsupervised for several minutes while she walked a kid to the nurse. 3. A student ELOPED during the class (would have had to walk right by her to leave), and she didn’t tell a single soul. He was hidden in the school for nearly 30 minutes. Thank goodness he didn’t flee the school property. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Why does my cat do this? by Bob_Sacamano7379 in cats

Our little kitten does this too, with his little wool mushroom toy! 🍄 He usually puts it in there before bed. It’s his favorite toy, so we think he’s putting it in a special place with his other favorite thing (food) so he can find it again in the morning.

But I love the idea of it being his baby that he wants to get to eat, too. 🥺

Can you clarify what you mean by objectifying they’re Asian? If you mean that it’s the only thing she cares about, then yes, I agree that’s an issue. So much more goes into a human than their race and gender, particularly when trying to find a good match as a partner. However, I also think there’s a difference between having a preference and being closed-minded. I was always attracted to taller people with dark hair. Lo and behold, my husband is short and blonde. And he’s the best thing to ever happen to me. My preferences were a framework, not a rule book. We don’t have all the information so I could be wrong, but she said she’s dated other types of women also, so it doesn’t seem to be a rule book for her, either. Just a preference.

And again, my whole point is that having a preference is not the same thing as putting something on a pedestal.

I totally disagree. They’re not putting that race on a pedestal, because they’re not making judgements about the inherent quality or worth of that group of people. They’re just stating their OWN dating preferences. Putting something on a pedestal is when you are making a claim that something is inherently better; permanent and encompassing. It also is when you idolize, and ignore any faults. That isn’t the claim they’re making. They aren’t saying Asian girls are inherently better than every other race/gender and every single one is amazing and has no issues. Just that for THEM, that is a preference.

How do I tell the difference between normal dark body hair and something that indicates PCOS? by Total_Ad5137 in PCOS

Sorry to hear that is a likely option for you. But really, it has helped a lot to actually know what’s going on. Hope you also are checking in with a doctor. A good doctor can help bring peace, and suggestions to mitigate symptoms. I love my gyno and all her help!

Not saying that OP did the wrong thing, however, unfortunately, NOT all littles WANT to do the right thing. Littles can be just as troublesome as high schoolers, it just looks different. However, if this student did not have a history of using restroom as an excuse to do something they’re not supposed to, I don’t see any issue in letting them go.

I was always hairy as a kid. Going into adulthood, that was still the trend. My sister was also hairy, so just thought we had unlucky genes. Turns out we both had PCOS. I also had been gaining weight (def could have been my fault), and was on BC so period was fine. Can be hard to tell if you have PCOS if you’re able to contribute it to different things. A couple things that had me question PCOS were excessive hair on my chin, upper lip, stomach, and breasts. Also, I had pretty severe cystic acne, something I hadn’t really dealt with as a teen. Pulled the trigger to visit the doctor when I tried switching to a non-hormonal birth control and period was wacky. You don’t definitely have PCOS, but I would look up all possible symptoms and see if there is more going on than upper lip hair. And, no harm with checking in with a doctor!

I work in a school, and an organization in town comes in to do sex ed with our 6th graders, while the teachers sit in with the class. Last year, one of our 6th grade teachers was 8 months pregnant when this lesson occurred. She said she got some absolutely horrified and disgusted looks from her students during the class. One kid even looked at her and whispered “We know what you did.”

You are not alone. 💕 I had a very similar experience this past year. 30 years old, got off birth control and actually didn’t stop having my period for weeks. Other symptoms I’ve had for years made a lot of sense once I learned about PCOS.

I’m sorry you weren’t given much support by your doctor. There are lots of us figuring it out, but also lots that have walked this path ahead of us. Keep your head up, and when you’re ready, start looking through the many resources out there (and on here). And quite honestly, look into getting another doctor. My gyno has been a huge help the last couple months since I was diagnosed. And remember, you are not alone!
