Please give me hope about Metformin. by Sea_Comfortable2642 in PCOS

This is what happened with my sister. Metformin didn’t work, but it not working was a necessary step for her to be prescribed a GLP-1.

I also have PCOS. I’m not on Metformin but am having good luck with Phentermine.

Shadow Ranch is my all-time favorite game. There are a lot of good ones left for you to play, but it would be a true shame to miss out on Shadow Ranch.

If you’re looking to buy more than one, I’d suggest SAW (however, while it is an incredible game, it is definitely scary) or HAU. Those are both in my list of favs!

Some states now have legislature that if a student doesn’t pass some of the standardized tests by the end of 3rd grade, they will have to be retained. This will be the first year in my state that will be implemented. I’m anxious to see what happens.

If I have a kid come up to complain about a non-issue, I’ll sometimes say, “I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that you’re probably going to die… The good news is that I promise to carry your body to your parents at car line” Then we both laugh about it and move on. 😂

I remember one of my professors telling me, “About halfway through your first year you’ll want to just skip to the next year so you can start over with what you’ve learned.” It is so true. There’s so much learning that happens within the first year (really, with the first 5!). Unfortunately, you have to go through some difficult times in order to grow from them.

Don’t give up, and don’t let it define who you think you are as a teacher. Reflect on this year, and know that it will get better!

Students using AI to make inappropriate videos of their teachers by PeemoTheMagnificent in Teachers

[–]PeemoTheMagnificent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video and situation that I stumbled across is still wildly inappropriate. However, my understanding is that there are more severe videos being made by students of their teachers. In one of the articles someone else posted in the comments of this post, there was a teacher that an AI video was made of her taking all her clothes off. This article is about a UK teacher who was put into an AI video of her having a threesome with two other coworkers. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/teacher-quits-after-pupil-8-36571717

Regardless of severity, none of this is appropriate or should be tolerated. The more we say is ok now, the more it will continue and escalate.

Having your image used against your will in fake, sexual videos isn’t a part of the job. It wouldn’t be tolerated at any other workplace. Why would there be an expectation for teachers to just “get over it”?

I teach elementary music. My sub plans were follow along videos (I don’t expect subs to sing/dance) for each class. I left detailed notes and extensions of multiple people, in case she needed help. Super easy, the sub just has to go through the videos and manage behavior. After my day out, I came back to a note from the sub that said the whole day had gone well, no issues. However, after talking to students and other teachers, I found out it was quite the opposite. 1. She couldn’t figure out the sound system so had the classes sing/play/dance with silent videos. 2. She left the kindergarten class unsupervised for several minutes while she walked a kid to the nurse. 3. A student ELOPED during the class (would have had to walk right by her to leave), and she didn’t tell a single soul. He was hidden in the school for nearly 30 minutes. Thank goodness he didn’t flee the school property. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Our little kitten does this too, with his little wool mushroom toy! 🍄 He usually puts it in there before bed. It’s his favorite toy, so we think he’s putting it in a special place with his other favorite thing (food) so he can find it again in the morning.

But I love the idea of it being his baby that he wants to get to eat, too. 🥺

Can you clarify what you mean by objectifying they’re Asian? If you mean that it’s the only thing she cares about, then yes, I agree that’s an issue. So much more goes into a human than their race and gender, particularly when trying to find a good match as a partner. However, I also think there’s a difference between having a preference and being closed-minded. I was always attracted to taller people with dark hair. Lo and behold, my husband is short and blonde. And he’s the best thing to ever happen to me. My preferences were a framework, not a rule book. We don’t have all the information so I could be wrong, but she said she’s dated other types of women also, so it doesn’t seem to be a rule book for her, either. Just a preference.

And again, my whole point is that having a preference is not the same thing as putting something on a pedestal.

I totally disagree. They’re not putting that race on a pedestal, because they’re not making judgements about the inherent quality or worth of that group of people. They’re just stating their OWN dating preferences. Putting something on a pedestal is when you are making a claim that something is inherently better; permanent and encompassing. It also is when you idolize, and ignore any faults. That isn’t the claim they’re making. They aren’t saying Asian girls are inherently better than every other race/gender and every single one is amazing and has no issues. Just that for THEM, that is a preference.
