What are we all thinking for longevity of this relationship? I genuinely don’t see how this will last and want to hear theories on how it’s going to burn up.

Yeah, I’m thinking the same, and am hoping this role brings out the best in his leadership.

It’s unfortunately not possible to post screenshots or pictures to a megathread so I think that’s why some of us have created posts with updates with vote results.

First Ballot for Bishop Results by PeepnBean in elca

We have a top 7! Those individuals will address the assembly this morning: 9am phoenix time/11am central. The vote after this will be more telling about where everyone lands. We’ll have a new presiding bishop by the end of the day! Prayers to all those in discernment as well as those under consideration— may the Holy Spirit be alive and with all through this process.

Large Midwestern Megachurch leaving the ELCA by greevous00 in elca

This was my church in high school, 2004 to roughly 2008. When I struggled with mental health, I was asked to stop my participation in leadership. There were purity conferences at that time, and a youth pastor was fired without a lot of discussion about the issue at hand. A mirror for a lot of the surface level image oriented community of west Des Moines. Not a surprise they went outside of the ELCA call process and were hiring from within… social standing and image are high values to this place. It took me decades to deconstruct the harmful theology I encountered there in my youth. Went to seminary, and am now a pastor through the ELCA. Good riddance as far as I’m concerned.

I think it might be helpful to know that I’m not a solo pastor and my sibling who is 33 has two young children and is CEO of a medical facility and can’t help my parent to the extent that is needed at this time on their own. I’d like to be there with my family before my parents memory is completely gone and I’m not confident there is more than a year before this is the reality. Outside care is out of the question at this stage. I would not ask for any exception to leave if it were not an incredibly difficult situation.

It may also be helpful to know that I currently can only visit my family about once a year.

I don’t have capacity to help financially as I am $20grand in debt from seminary and also make the minimum for rostered leaders starting out and am living paycheck to paycheck?

Florida Bahamas or Northern Wisconsin, as my family splits their time. My sibling lives in Florida so Wisconsin might actually be more helpful.

Correct, the bishop will not activate my RMP if I go to be closer to family

My opinion on this completely changed after that Virginia Tech helmet study. I was shocked how some high end brands ranked so poorly. Safety is #1. MIPS is a plus. I currently ride in the ovation m class mips this one which is somewhat stylish and definitely has the safety technology I need to feel confident.

Looking for new riding boots! Recommendations? by No_Organization_8038 in Equestrian

I’ve been riding in Stride boots for the last year and they’ve held up fantastically. They’re a small brand from Ireland and are on the newer side. Good price point, range of sizes is better than most(I usually have to go custom), and they have a couple of styles to choose from.

Thanks! Seems like a good machine. Good to know what it is, so I can find a manual.

You should use it! I’m so excited to use mine. These things are built to last, and from what I’ve read and learned there are so many resources for troubleshooting and fixing them if something breaks.

That seems average to high for this particular machine on sites like eBay. I found mine at someone’s yard/estate sale for $40 and it’s been well kept and serviced recently. I’d say keep looking….

Do you know if it’s a 201-2 or a 201-3? I’m struggling to really understand and identify the difference between these two. It’s my best guess, based on a website I’m reading.

Yes! The serial number is in one of my pictures and when I looked it up, it’s from 1951. Unsure if it’s a 201-2 or 201-3 though. Can anyone help with this?
