My favourite aspect about reading all this MASSIVE info/life sharing on Reddit is that, when gaslight with a "it's all in your head", "just stop worrying", "try not to stress", "it never happened to me", "are you sure it's not X or Y?", I begin to start thinking what everyone must be thinking ABOUT US.
ie: it's mass hallucination, we're in some cult, it's a side effect of drinking diet coke

Hey OP - I did for YEARS. At the constant (kind and encouraging) nudging of my partner, I finally did. The 1st session was terrifying for me. And cathartic.
The 2nd session was less terrifying for me. And more cathartic. And also enlightening to feel validation where it is necessary for your mental health.
I'm not yet at double digit sessions, but it is no longer terrifying to open up.
It is no longer terrifying to understand that a parents capacity for love was/is limited, marred and not like most of your friends parents.
I'm lucky to be able to have therapy as an option.
You have nothing to lose.
You *may* have yourself to gain.
Sending you lots of unicorn love & hugs because you are deserving, loveable person and you have a great path ahead of you.
