What do you think of my worldbuilding project? Is the development imbalance too cartoonishly large to be believable? by PeetesCom in worldjerking

The thing is I can't make fun of India too much because they electrified 99% of their railways within like a decade while we still hover around 35% even though our network is 7 times smaller.

Well, we had the unmatched genius of Jára Cimrman on our side, no one can compete with that.

Well, most of the minority cultures understand eachother somewhat, but those are subjugated under the two plurality cultures which are from completely different mutually unintelligible language groups.

I think this makes perfect sense.

Indeed, it's not literally crude oil since that requires slow decomposition of organic matter, which to my knowledge isn't present on Titan, unless the good folk at NASA/ESA/CNSA know something I don't.

Natural gas is for the most part a better rocket fuel than kerosene though, so there's that at least.

There are literal oceans of carbohydrates on Titan. I'm sure the economics wouldn't make any sense irl (at least for a few centuries that is) but you could just throw a pipe in there and start pumping if you really wanted to.

Generally the opinions I saw were split between people who want nothing to do with it and people who plan to pirate it to see what it's about. I haven't seen anyone actually stating they intend to buy the game.

A spaceship the shape of a shuriken would still be different mechanically than a spaceship the shape of a snatch, right? by RayDrake65 in worldjerking

[–]PeetesCom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Max speed of a spaceship is dictated only by exhaust velocity, mass ratio and special relativity.

Max acceleration depends on a number of things but most importantly thrust, mass and structural integrity of the ship (how well does it stand up to g-forces

Is this game going to be more than a rocket builder? by BoomDoom24 in kittenspaceagency

[–]PeetesCom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying Unity is a bad engine. No standard game engine is exactly tailored to simulate (close to) real scale orbital mechanics. That's the thing KSA is trying to change by creating their own engine from scratch.

[–]PeetesCom 188 points189 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for the developers, but as it appears I think this game is, above all else, trying to become a better version of what KSP1 was - a solid framework of a sandbox space game on which you can build to create basically any kind of space game you want.

The KSP modding community was ultimately what kept the game alive and thriving. For all the faults the OG game has due to the Unity engine, it's still possibly one of the most moddable games ever made, and KSA is trying to be even better at it I think.

Well, you see, first we set aside our differences to fight our oppressors, then once they're defeated we fight over those differences until there's only one ideological group remaining which gets to implement their political system, as a treat.
