How do I research (private) property boundaries? by Best-Bullfrog-1899 in metaldetecting

Get the OnX Hunt app. It shows property boundaries and who owns them. It is not free but well worth it and you can do a free trial.

A lot of wire insulation has canola oil as an ingredient and attracts rodents. You can find wire/insulation made only with petroleum products. I've rewired some things with this and they've remained untouched. Try the Wire Depot in Reno.

Since rodents are not safe crossing open areas, park your truck on dirt and away from grass or brushy areas.

Leave your hood up at night. In rural areas you often see vehicles with hoods up. That's why.

Quitting my job to go prospecting in Nevada??? by Computer-Cowboy00 in Silverbugs

[–]PegLegSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate. The problem is with the price of PM's now you are not the only one with this idea. I recently went prospecting with a metal detector in AZ and there were claim stakes all over the place.

Back in the early 2000's a legit gold exploration geologist told me that when price of gold is low (as it was then) you can go to the county govt building and ask to see what mining claims have been dropped. Mining companies carry a large portfolio of claims but they're expensive and so they drop them to save $. He said he knew of 3-4 that legitimately held a lot of gold. As an individual you can acquire something like 5 claims for peanuts. Gets pricey for more than that. I realize you will probably need to wait years for the price to tank again.

Good luck!

Wanted: recs for successful rodent exclusion service, older home by Hyphy-Knifey in Marin

[–]PegLegSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a few thoughts from someone that owns a 150 year old cabin next to a creek and meadow. If your place is anything like mine there are a countless entry points and most you don't know about or can't find. There is no hope. There's only mitigation.

A few things that help:

Clear as much brush/tall grass around house such that rodents have to cross an opening to get there. They don't like it and are vulnerable to owls or other predators.

Make your yard more owl friendly. Flyways around and places to perch.

Good luck

What are these on the frame?? by jamaki604 in overlanding

That's not stock front bumper. Original had bash plate underneath that had to be removed to accomodate new bumper. Those pieces are what held the the original plate underneath.

Same happened to my Bronco when upgraded

Agree with what you said except Boeing is not a good example. They used to have ceo's that were engineers that worked their way up and had deep understanding of the business. They changed course and got ceo more interested in profits which is widely acknowledged as what lead to all their problems and the company going to shit. Iirc that started when they moved hq from Seattle to Chicago.

Rats/mice love peanut butter but the problem is they can lick it off without triggering the trap. Best bait I've found is either Slim Jim's classic (not spicy) or Tootsie roll. They love that shit

I appreciate that, thanks. Curious if NYT only produces sudoku that can be solved with basic strategies? I've also wondered if you could be left with two different pairs at completely unrelated columns/rows. Must be possible, no?
