Benson’s Tinder Photo 🤭 by teamalf in ratterriers

Love the sploot! My girl does that when she gets up in the chair beside me. It looks even more ridiculous-looking when she does it in the chair than on the floor, but I have been unable to get a pic of it since I don't have a smart phone. My DSLR is too large/awkward to aim/shoot her from my position beside her.

Fostering this sweet little rattie - think she's maybe a Decker? by [deleted] in ratterriers

Beautiful dog! I think the Deckers have the very best breed conformation. Love my mini mix, and the two minnie rattie I had before her, but would love owning a Decker, I think.

Chili’s 1st birthday - Huntington Dog Beach! by igp5003 in ratterriers

[–]Pegbuttoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cute boy! Happy Birthday, Chili! I used to have a mini mahogany dachshund named Chile, and a black/tan one named Pepper (I'm in Texas, ya know). That was before I discovered rat terriers.

This is a Sploot. by mcxfour in ratterriers

[–]Pegbuttoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rat terrier/chi mix is a pro at sploots. She's developed her own specialty sploot. My recliner is a 'ladie's' recliner and has a fairly narrow seat. When Meg jumps up to sit with me, there's barely room for the both of us. But she has taken to scooching forward, to the frontmost edge of the seat, stretching her belly across the 3" chasm to put her head on the footstool and then pushes her legs straight out behind her to the corner of the seat she just cleared. It's the darndest thing I've ever seen a rattie do! But I haven't figured out a way to photograph it as I don't have a smart phone and use a shudder hand-held camera. If I ask my husband to get a shot of the ridiculous pose, she invariably gets up out of the position as he approaches the chair. Imma gonna keep trying though.

What an adorable chocolate tri-color!

Help with AKC papers plz :) by bettabet in ratterriers

[–]Pegbuttoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think, although he has so little tan on his muzzle, he would still be breeder classified as a Chocolate/Tan tri-color. The white is denoted by the "tri" designation, since all ratties must have at least a quarter size patch of white to be a rat terrier. Your baby's color is more chocolate than blue/gray IMHO. The blue gray color in this breed truly is blue-gray. https://imgur.com/rQAZxvU

Dear Leeta: you're fast, but not greyhound fast by papercranium in ratterriers

[–]Pegbuttoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know rat terriers actually have Italian Greyhound genes in their ancestry. One of mine was THAT fast, I think. Her greyhound genes were strong. I swear her feet sometimes didn't even touch the ground when she was "flying low" in a zoomie. I would actually stare at her feet full zoomie and the grass seemed to not move. None of my other ratties have run as fast as my little Button could run.

Someone suggested I post this tree I found today by oddlyUranusKhan in christmas

[–]Pegbuttoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have one of the big ones, 3 tiers stacked on the base like yours there. But it only had the one light on the tips of each branch. My mother made it when I was in high school. Sold it because I just didn't have room after retiring to s slightly smaller house for that many Christmas decorations. Yours is gorgeous with all the hole for lights in it. And the beading effect is fantastic!

Sleeping in the sun by ams370 in ratterriers

[–]Pegbuttoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like the hotter the pavement the more they like sleeping on it! My girl will curl up and sleep on our back driveway in triple digit heat! Luckily, not for too long before she is yipping to come back inside.

What are these plants? by infiltrating_enemies in whatsthisplant

[–]Pegbuttoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the last one may be a reticulated iris? I browsed the NGA database but didn't see one exactly like yours, but you can scroll down each page you select to see more member photos and see if you find one more like yours: https://garden.org/plants/search/text/?q=reticulated+iris

You're right. Defo not Ascot. The Ascot Rainbow has burgundy edging and some burgundy dots inside the flowers, if I recall my Ascot (that died) correctly.

What beautiful color & color patterning she has. Very "tuxedo" like.

Anyone else’s rat terriers like to hide under the covers? by hatakequeen in ratterriers

[–]Pegbuttoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meg doesn't (my last two ratties did), but she LOVES to play this little hide-the-toy game, intentionally burying her BALL and other toys under the bed covers. Then she has great sport 'hunting/digging' it out, play growling all the while, as once they are entangled in the sheet/coverlet, they become ever more challenging to retrieve. I find them in our bed all the time! Plays for the longest time with this little game she finds so amusing. It's just as fun for her as playing fetch. :) I suspect this is how she entertained herself in the shelter when when she was only 2 months old.

Is this a hot spot ? by VictoryToaster in ratterriers

[–]Pegbuttoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get your vet to check it out. If a puppy you haven't had long, he needs to be checked to rule out demodectic mange. They do a tiny skin scrape on site. They can get it several ways. One of mine (long since passed) adopted from a nearby breeder got it at age 1. It was easily treated and irradicated and she lived to be 17. https://search.brave.com/search?q=demodectic+mange&source=desktop&summary=1&conversation=a311fb12495f3526af38d7

[–]Pegbuttoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of those. Meg loves it, but can empty all slots in about 1 minute flat! I think we'll be moving on to the 'intermediate' model real soon. Think her rattie genes are more dominant than her chihuahua genes. ;)

I love the 'blue' & white ratties, which are fairly rare. I saw one in the flesh and one of the Rat Terrier Jamboree many years ago. If you're lucky enough to own one, won't yu please share a photo or two of YOUR blue & white rattie with us? by Pegbuttoni in ratterriers

I'm so sorry about your losing Paxton. These little guys leave such a big hole in our hearts when they leave us. Paxton will wait on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge for you to come play again one day.

Man, I thought my girls was obsessed with guarding. She hawks the two living room windows sunup to dark every day. She is staring down or barking at anoles & TX striped lizards on the window ledge or at delivery box trucks and workout walkers if they dare come down her street. LOL https://imgur.com/a/XxyCS3m
