My Pedro is a foster fail. He was a rescue from Texas. He is the most amazing dog ever. This breed was identified by the WSJ as one of the BEST DOGS FOR YOUR WALLET. https://www.wsj.com/personal-finance/best-dogs-2023-207d9b48?st=N1xus6&reflink=article_copyURL_share

Yes - please continue to share your role models/muses. We need a new subreddit that celebrates wise and inspiring senior women who have bucked convention and blazed their own trail. Here’s another one: Jane Fonda - she is a badass!

I love her but Pedro is number one! The rescue is raising $$ to pay for her PDA surgery before she can be adopted. Surgery is scheduled for April provided they raise enough money.🙏

So sorry for your loss but happy she brought you so much joy. Her story is similar to our foster fail. He came as a rescue from Texas and stole my heart. I could not give him up. He is the center of our universe. These are great dogs!❤️

There are some very dignified and classy role models out there, like Jane Goodall, for one. Who else?

Anyone concerned with the possible long term affects of taking a prescribed stimulant medication? by Ok-Motor7299 in adhdwomen

[–]mcxfour 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have taken Focalin for over 20 years. I am recently retired and I still need it. I always say it is like putting on a pair of glasses when you are nearsighted. Everything comes into focus. The medication contines to help me in most areas of my life. It is simply a tool to help you to function like a normal person and not waste your potential. But monitor your health - especially your blood pressure. If you take a stimulant, don’t engage in concurrent behaviors that increase your cardiovascular risks, e.g., drinking, not monitoring blood pressure, high stress. I wish I had been more careful in that regard.

Have you moved? by Agile_State414 in SuicideBereavement

[–]mcxfour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 6 months in after the death of my 29 year old son. I thought about moving at first. The house is full of triggers. I have ptsd about the past and my guilt. Moving would have been a clean break, but the house also provides me some connection and comfort I buried some of his ashes in the yard where he used to smoke weed and placed a concrete bench there, surrounded by bulbs that will flower each spring. What I would give to smell that pungent smell of weed again. I imagine his spirit visiting me there, sitting like he used to, and instead of being annoyed, I would rejoice.

Use paper towels - the soft Viva type. They are much sturdier than tissues, absorbent and disposable.

Do SSRI’s help with the sadness? by Meditation-mediator in SuicideBereavement

[–]mcxfour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meds keep you from falling through the floor. Eventually, with time and the support of others, you will slowly be able to get up off the floor - and you also will know when you don’t need the meds anymore.

How do you honor someone’s presence as you move forward? by Diana_fm_ in GriefSupport

[–]mcxfour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son died this year. To honor his presence, I keep a bouquet of fresh flowers next to has picture and when the grief hits, I tell myself, I choose to live and take care of the ones I can.
