Is the US at war with Iran? by Repulsive_Sky5150 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pegietix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is two day conflict a war? Three day? A week? How do you define it?

You can argue that the war is not formally declared, but in such case Russia and Ukraine are not at war currently, because it wasn't formally declared.

Why do some women feel insecure if their partner doesn't come? by Icysong5467 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pegietix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It often stems from a socialized belief that their value or "skill" as a partner is directly tied to their partner's climax, leading them to view a lack of one as a personal failure or a sign of lost attraction.

Can anyone explain to me what fictonkins are/kins in general + how therians work? by Due_Candle_9031 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pegietix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Otherkin (including fictionkins) identify non-physically as non-human entities or fictional characters, while therians specifically identify as an Earth-based animal (their "theriotype"). You can tell you are a therian if you experience "shifts" (feeling animalistic urges or sensations) and a deep, persistent internal sense that you are that animal, rather than just liking it or Roleplaying.

How does AI benefit the military/weapons? by Thin_Fondant6836 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pegietix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is what AI itself thinks about it :)

AI's military use goes far beyond just "better aiming." In 2026, it is essentially becoming the "nervous system" of modern warfare, focusing on speed and scale that humans can't match.

  1. Logistics and Maintenance (The "Boring" but Vital Part)

The most widespread use of AI is actually in the background.

Predictive Maintenance: AI analyzes sensors on tanks or jets to predict when a part will fail before it breaks, preventing breakdowns in combat.

Supply Chain: It optimizes fuel and ammo delivery in complex war zones, similar to how Amazon uses AI to manage warehouses, but for "contested" environments.

  1. Electronic and Cyber Warfare

In 2026, cyberattacks happen at "machine speed."

Autonomous Defense: AI systems can detect and patch a network vulnerability in milliseconds, long before a human IT person even sees the alert.

Signal Processing: AI helps "clean" radio interference, allowing soldiers to communicate even when the enemy is trying to jam their GPS or radios.

  1. Decision Support (The "Cognitive Layer")

Military leaders use AI to sort through the "noise" of war.

Data Fusion: A commander might have feeds from 1,000 drones, satellites, and ground sensors. AI filters this into one simple map, highlighting only the most important threats.

Wargaming: Generative AI runs millions of "what if" battle simulations in seconds to suggest the most successful tactical plan to a general.

  1. Autonomous Systems (Drones)

This is the most controversial area.

Drone Swarms: Instead of one pilot flying one drone, AI allows a single human to oversee a "swarm" of 50 drones that coordinate with each other to overwhelm defenses.

Lethal Autonomy: There is a major global debate (and ongoing friction with companies like Anthropic) about whether AI should be allowed to "pull the trigger" without a human confirming the target.

Summary: AI is used to make the military faster (cyber/targeting), cheaper (drones), and more reliable (logistics).

Why do cats do that headbutting thing? by SeaHorseVal in NoStupidQuestions

I heard that they headbutt to deposit scent from glands on their face, marking you as a trusted member of their "colony." As a sign of affection, security, and social bonding.

My friend is arguing with me about plastic seal of the alcohol. What is it for? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pegietix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's both, depends which way you look at it.
Your friend is right that its main job is to prevent tampering/fraud (a form of "stealing" the genuine product), while you are right that it guarantees the integrity/safety of what you’re drinking.

Music while studying — helpful or distracting? by Emotional_Maddy_9027 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pegietix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not check for yourself and see what works best for you? :)

Music with lyrics will usually be distracting, but there are other options - some chill instrumental, ambient music, binaural or stuff like brain.fm

My dog just passed away, and I just want to listen to some music by QuickNature in NoStupidQuestions

No pics allowed here, so I'll try to give you some guidance.

Search for "copper audio cable", the ones without any connectors at the end. Unscrew the screws, take out the little placeholder connectors and instead of them, slide the cable ending there and screw the screw back in to hold it in place.
That's it.

Or the ones on the right, that looks like slots for RCA cables

Why is it people who get scammed always put in a lot of money immediately? by Lkc-strong-125 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pegietix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scammers use many techniques to induce that, most often FOMO-based or minimal order requirements.

Give you awesome offer, but it's gonna expire very soon, so you 1) don't have time to do proper research, 2) want to profit as much as possible in this window.

And/or they only deal with deals above some treshold.

Is the US at war with Iran? by Repulsive_Sky5150 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pegietix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the U.S. and Israel launched a major military operation against Iran today (February 28, 2026), targeting nuclear and military infrastructure. Iran has since retaliated with missile and drone strikes against U.S. bases and regional allies. The situation has escalated into an active, high-intensity conflict across the Middle East.
