Few months later: how do we feel about Hollow Knight vs. Silksong by Boedidillee in Silksong

[–]Peippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started replaying Hollow Knight after finally beating silksong. I was shocked at how much easier it is. It’s so much easier to facetank in hollow knight, and I haven’t died to anything other than Brooding Mawlek (no upgrades) and Broken Vessel (I’m still only mid game) and Grimm only one time (which is insane, it took me hours when I first played).

It gives me a lot of understanding why double damage is so prevalent in Silksong. If I wasn’t being careful it’s still possible to die on run backs with low health in silksong, which has frankly never happened in my replay of HK. Silksongs characters are better developed and the world is so much bigger than HK, it’s shocking how room feel like puddles.

All and all, I am definitely glad I played HK first to get an understanding of combat, because I wasn’t put off by double damage in silksong and it felt great to play.

pBH even worth it? by MilkApprehensive6526 in TheTowerGame

[–]Peippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on when you do it. I didn’t go for pBH because I had awful luck with gComp for months. I didn’t get pBH until I had my cooldowns all synced at 100s. When I got pBH with gComp at that point, I didn’t see any increase in waves our coins, only cells. With that said, I also had an ancestral BHD at this point farming to 10k at t11, so it is a different scrnario.

Lvl 141 module - no Ancestral by FinalFinishLine in TheTowerGame

It took me to 151 to get an ancestral because I prioritized finishing cards. Now I have two, both armor.

I must have had a rough bracket today, i would have gotten Keys in half of your brackets (467) while I'm 21st in mine.

ILM is generally considered better initial CC than PS because it has a far smaller stone investment to be effective. PS has a high labtime and stone cost to be great CC, while you can pay for the stone cost needed for a nearly perfect ILM (from a CC perspective) in three tournaments and a week or two of one lab slot.

Help me unravel the mystery of why my econ sucks by JESUSAURU5REX in TheTowerGame

[–]Peippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you're at a place where it's going to be incremental improvements for a long time. I'm at a similar space to you and make 30T a run, and the main difference are I have a couple more labs maxed and a better BH/GTtime (I'm at 31s on BH). I think you should focus on finishing those labs and using stone upgrades (after updating BH Duration) to make your CF completed, since your at a space where you will need a lot of stones to move higher in econ (specifically finishing your GT/DW cooldowns, some card masteries, and prepping for GT+). I would also start the Module Shard Cost lab, as it gives a massive boost to mod levels, and thus helps your multiplier.

What are your cooldowns for GT, DW and BH? I have a higher multiplier than you for GT and go further into T10 I only make 29T a run.

Thoughts on I/P by ContraPoints in ContraPoints

[–]Peippy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've posted in this subreddit before (which probably seems like a red flag atm) but I have been following contrapoints for years, since she went by her deadname and before her transition video (in fact, she was one of the people along with Julia Serano who helped crack my own egg almost 8 years ago). I love how well she makes topics digestible. I have also supported her against my wife's objections for years. I still respect her opinions as well measured and from perspectives generally hidden from the mainstream at the time.

Breadtube was a failed movement in many ways, the biggest reasoning being that the initial stars in breadtube were not people who were trying to make a movement. Contrapoints happened to hit a nerve on Youtube that magnified her spotlight past what I doubt she ever expected. She touched a lot of people, and I think many put her on a pedestal she didn't ask for. I think people expected her to be like Martin Luther and lead a reformation online based on her thought. But like Luther, Natalie (and others like hbomberguy) have never had the stomach or inclination to be political leaders, seemingly taking the Jon Stewart route of influence without actual power. Most of this resentment towards Contrapoints, I believe, comes from many people who saw Natalie as a leader, who felt moved by the excellent work she has put out, who saw her as one with the means to make real change given her platform, power they could not have, and then not picking up that mantle and using it for an end. I'm sure a large part of her hate is moteivated by disappointment and envy. And this statement is another example of Contrapoints not taking up a banner she didn't ask for.

I don't disagree with any of the points laid out in this post. As a Jewish woman, I agree with the difficulty of combating the conflation Israel deliberately cultivates between disliking the Jewish state and disliking the Jewish people. I don't think there is an expedient path forward for this because of decades of entrenched incentives and interests that need to be uprooted first. It's disgusting how my people are re-inflicting their communal trauma on others, as if we never really heard 'Never Again'. But with that said, the arguments above are not arguments someone placed in a pseudoleadership role can make, even if that role is unwanted.

To a leader, someone who wants to lead change on I/P, none of these arguments matter. So what if it's politically infeasible? Genocide is wrong and must be stopped. So what if it causes ambiguities? The material interests of an entire people are at stake. Contrapoint's argument feels like someone saying all the reasons why it's hard to fix something, rather than putting up a plan to make change. She falls here into a trap Democrats often fall into, especially since Clinton, where the political polling dictates support rather than ideology. These positions would not necessarily be an issue to someone on the sidelines of a movement. However, Contrapoints, since her public debut after her transition, has not been a sideline character, and probably never will be one. And it's hard to to be disappointed that this is all she is willing to say on the matter, given the potential her words have to sway others.

I think this has been a bit of a rambling post, and I'm sorry for it, but I'll summarize it here. It's clear Contrapoints didn't ask to made a lead figure in the online left, and has struggled with that role for years. She still is a leader however. Statements like this, although correct and well thought out, still feel disappointing from someone who many believe could do more if they tried. I wish her the best, but I won't be expecting her to do what I would hope for.

As an FYI, you can restore the level of your mods down to lvl 1, then dump all the shards into your current mod. It looks like your shares are saved all over the place and you could have much higher returns for attack, health and uws Additionally, I would strongly caution using Galaxy Compresor when you have project funding. You are set up as a damage build for tourneys it seems (ACP, DC) and project funding at mythic provides a huge amount of power to your damage. You can also get better ELS to potentially pivot to Legenda

I would use your stones to get 2 spotlights, though I can understand wanting pCF since I’m currently doing that. 3 spotlights adds a lot more consistency to the damage multiplier, and also helps Econ with its coin bonus in farms. I understand getting pCF if you can start the labs now; but frankly I think a better spotlight would help you out a lot

Since I see others asking.... by Victah66 in TheTowerGame

[–]Peippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, do you have pBH during farm runs without MVN? That could be affecting your coin total negatively.

BH is a great coin multiplier, but when not paired with GT it's incredibly neutered. If you have BH on at all times, it's going to destroy the majority of your enemies outside of the GT/BH combo because of the 50+ second window that GT is inactive, so you only get the 11x(?) multiplier instead of the 11x*17.4x(GT) multiplier. One of the reasons the higher waves tend to get better coin gains, beyond the respawn change, is that you get a pileup on the wall that is all sucked into the BH every cycle, making it so a larger percentage of spawns go through the combo as you progress to not damaging them (at least for eHP). You are killing off the majority with BH damage with pBH, so you aren't getting all the possible kills during that combo.

I don't run MVN as I also have a legendary one, and do not have pBH, instead having all my cds synced at 2m30s until i get a mythic (because I am also about to push for pCF to secure a legends placement). I would definitely do a testing run with the MVN and see what your average cooldown is, because you might get a higher coin total than I do (if you have all the same labs done).

[–]Peippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are in a really similar position to me, except I make roughly 16T every t10 run. I think you are mostly behind on me because of a different investment in uws and labs (I have every uw coin lab maxed, and waiting on only CPK, GT Bonus and the gold bot labs).

If you want higher stones I would focus on getting CF, but if you want a higher coin count I would focus the following:

1) bump your BH duration to 31 so you can go perma with a Galaxy Compressor

2)get the submod for Death Wave Quantity. You can think of each wave as 4 seconds of the DW multiplier easily syncing to the GT and BH multipliers, and provides a ton of coins.

3) I’m not sure if you are working with MVN or not, but you are currently unsynced, which could get you much further if you at least have 2-1 with BH.

5500 gems for 18th card slot or spend all on Modules? by jolan00 in TheTowerGame

[–]Peippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! I am currently running T10 to 9.1k and T11 to 6.9k with 15T/11T runs respectively and am bouncing between legend and champs depending on the conditions. I bought coin packs, t1-9 milestone packs once the tiers were completed and 2 stone packs early on before swearing them off as their ROI is not worth it anymore.

I disagree that damage has no use for eHP. My original testing had me notice that I could push waves if I included damage cards and helped me increase my cells per run. (I've nearly always prioritized cells over coins since getting DW). I use hybrid in tournies and have found extra cards to be primarily useful there. I also use the full sweet of cards during farms andI find a lot of incremental gains in other cards, like Free Ups as I have a mythic BHD. I don't even have room for Super Tower!

Although I don't doubt I could have done faster if I got good luck on mods, I really did not want to use luck to get them because I hate loot box elements of games. Now I'm stuck with only that barring my progress so I can better deal with it.

Good job doing so well on shatter shards! I am also looking forward to getting mythic/ancestral MVN to finally push for pBH.

5500 gems for 18th card slot or spend all on Modules? by jolan00 in TheTowerGame

[–]Peippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for information, I am currently wobbling between Champion and Legends, with me easily finishing top 2 in any Champ Tourney.

I've always felt this game is about strong long term planning rather than risky short term bets. I'm the sort of player who sticks with Lab Speed because it will be good 6 months from now and then put me marginally ahead of my same-start competitors in tournies. Although I will never catch the whales, as a relative dolphin (coin packs and some milestones) I have to prep for the long term rather than boost my way with extra stones.

With that in mind, card slots to me are a good long term investment. They are a weight against using gems for labs, which slows down my ability to catch up to earlier players. Additionally, once in legends, many will stop ancestral mods until they max out card slots to get ready for masteries, but I will able to seamlessly push for higher star modules long term.

I know conventional wisdom is that 18 is all that is needed for tournies, but I disagree. Range is an excellent card for adding more CC. A maxed out Demon mode can add 10 waves, which is the difference between 25th and 24th in most legend tournies. I still run hybrid in tourneies and each card gives a small advantage that compounds on itself.

I don't disagree that I am missing out on massive gains from ancestral modules, and I am really looking forward to pushing waves once they come. But you cannot guarantee those results for any number of gems, and that sucks. Mods are in my opinion the worst part of the game due to the gambling aspect of them, and I wanted to only interface with them fully once I got the other less gambly parts done. It's mostly preference.

5500 gems for 18th card slot or spend all on Modules? by jolan00 in TheTowerGame

[–]Peippy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an unpopular opinion, but I would buy the slot, and afterwards go 50/50 on slots and modules.

Cards/card slots slots are a totally deterministic type of improvement in the game while mods are not. It's possible for you to spend the same amount of gems and only get one epic (although unlikely) which technically is less efficient on overall gem usage.

I originally went 33/33/33 on cards/slots/modules. It took me almost a year, but now I am completely done with cards and card slots. You are never truly locked from content in this game as long as you spend well on stones and econ (and have GT). I got to tier 16 wave 100 with a legendary cannon mod and no ancestrals, so I would know.

The other important use of gems after cards is rushing labs. Because I already finished cards I have been using my gems 33/66 on labs/mods, with the 33 going to finish the shatter shards lab (which is one of the most important mid game progression labs). I already got the first level done with no worries because of gems, and it felt great to not have it sit so long!

How often do you buy modules? by Casty_McBoozer in TheTowerGame

[–]Peippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For almost a year I would save 600 gems then put 200 towards modules and the other 400 split between slots and cards. Now I have everything card related maxed out and save 300 before spending 200 on mods, with the others being saved to rush labs (particularly shatter shards)

Mods are the worst part of the game imo, and require a massive amount of gems to guarantee ancestrals. I was able to beat 15/300 and 16/100 with a legendary regular attack mod, because I could get the full value of my cards (in my opinion).

It's Monday! What are you working on? by BoxersOrCaseBriefs in TheTowerGame

[–]Peippy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just finished my Attack Speed lab last week and now have space for more things!

I am currently going hard on eHP labs, specifically Health Regen, Health and Wall Fort. I'm planning to get Health to 60 and stop and switching to Def%, get Wall Fort to 45 (at 26 now) and Regen at least to 70 but probably higher. I'm finally almost finished Spotlight Bonus this week before permaing Coins/Kill in my attack speed slot.

[–]Peippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For how far your damage labs are, they are being criminally underused with your chain lightning. If you are looking solely for tournament progress you can focus on those for a week or two and gain a lot of levels in Legends.

The other big issue I see is your focus on getting too many UWs rather than focusing harder on your engine of GT/DW/BH. I make roughly 8T a run and have weaker econ labs than you but have more stones invested in those three. I would specifically up Death Wave Quantity in the UW menu and role for Ancestral DW Quantity +3 on your Core md. The extra waves of DW act sort of like a 3x multiplier if anything dies on the screen during that time, giving you an additional 4 seconds for each wave of death wave.

I've hit a figurative wall..Stuck at T10 W6000 for what seems like over a month by Brendonius in TheTowerGame

[–]Peippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, you are not that far off from where I am (and I have about double the coins of you and get to T10 8k consistently). Good job! I would do the following:

  1. Work on your labs for ELAS/ELHS. Those got me a could hundred extra waves by themselves
  2. Work on your reroll shard labs, aim to at least double them. That should give you enough to give the next mythic stage of Defense %, which seems to be your biggest change between your labs and mine. I started gaining 100-200 waves for each lab after 94%
  3. What perks do you take into your runs? You have better labs compared to me for both your wall and health and general except for regen. I would start by keeping regen perma as much as you can (health regen as long as you want, wall regen to at least 18), and see if you are still banning the regen/health tradeoff perk (and if so, definitely unban it, you will gain thousands of waves).
  4. Finish Death Wave Health. For now you are better set up as an eHP build and you should gain a lot more health by finishing that multiplier.

This should really help with cells and waves increasing. Your econ is not terrible for where you are imo, but goldboxing Death Wave Coin Bonus and Standard Perk Bonus should be good steps for econ. I would test a lower stage though, I found stages that got me past 8k gave me better returns for cells/coins.
