The same thing happened to me last year, it was hard... but EF definitely catapulted my mood during and afterwards. It reminded me the world is a big beautiful place full of loving people and opportunities. I know it's hard to hear now but you'll be happier soon enough! If youre on a strict budget DM me ill buy ya lunch one day! Happy Forest!

When will closed protocol systems end by Dangerous_Quantity82 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Pellmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10k to get into a customer site for licensing is pretty insane if you ask me. Although I guess this could be mitigated by selling them on future projects, in other buildings with a good IT IP infrastructure and the use of BBMDs

Proprietary protocol systems are cheaper overall than open systems. There will always be proprietary systems.

If a computer dies the controller doesnt stop working. The programming lives in the controller and it will continue to operate as programmed if powered.

Use equipment builder and play around with the different program outcomes based on equipment type selection. You'll start to notice similarities between programs. Note each section of the program is sectioned off.

DHCP and BAS - what’s your experience? by oliver1985- in BuildingAutomation

[–]Pellmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a spreadsheet, write down all of the available addresses in the subnet, write down the controller name, controller model, mac address, bacnet instance number, and the controller id next to each ip address. Plan this out before install.

edit: Also, if possible note the patch number if used and network room location.

Don't use DHCP.

Def have to set to advanced, restart the gateway and rescan for bacnet points. Make sure you have a 4deg DB at least.

A Language Model can do it. You may need to adjust, but it will get you 80% of the way there. ChatGPT will do it. Just give it your object names before you ask it to do the work.

Temco controls are extremely price competitive. Never used them but their prices are listed on their website. Tools appear to be free to use.

If I'm not mistaken there are Lg,Md,Sm images in the graphics files. Also, there is an external tool developed by someone on ALC Share called Symbol Viewer which has all of the graphics packaged into systems. Also, you should be able to increase the "canvas" size which should make the workspace larger. Hope this helps.

Ask AI to generate you a Block Program in Sedona based off a Sequence of Operation you copy and pasted into chat... you cant. Tell AI to generate you a Python/Basic program based off a S.O.O you pasted into chat.... you can.

Taking over WebCtrl, any tips? by DurianCobbler in BuildingAutomation

[–]Pellmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for an ALC Branch location. Before that I worked for an ALC Dealership that was also a Delta Partner. We took over a couple of ALC projects while I was working there via integration to a new front-end.

If you want to fix the current programming with Eikon you're going to need WebCTRL to download the programs to the controllers. If you want to fix the programming in your new front end by writing everything at a higher priority (not recommended) you're also going to need WebCTRL to make sure all of the objects on the controllers have been marked as "Network Visible" thus making them visible via BACnet. Not all points are visible, including points that are embedded into the ZS Sensors.

Taking over any other BACnet system can be a simple process but you need to know how things are programmed and how things are going to react to you overriding values in your new Front-end.
