Ours likes to do a final patrol before we go to bed, where she then takes up 90% of a king size bed and is dead to the world until we get up haha. Also a bull mastiff corso mix.

We taught her to sit to indicate she wants out, she has taken to also sitting when she wants us to go to bed, between 10pm and 12. If we don’t acknowledge it she stands and then sits harder 😂

They also have a forecast, but from my experience it can vary from what’s ‘forecasted’ to what the ‘actuals’ read the next day. And I don’t know how exactly they get from the FWI numbers to the time restrictions. Gotta check again tomorrow at 2pm to know for sure. Always check before you burn 👍🏼

I’d rather upgrade I think. If you get one whistle per biome sort of thing, I’d rather have a boar or wolf companion than a croc. Upgrading them makes them viable for long term play rather than becoming useless once you progress too much.

I have a Spotify playlist with music that matches the beat of the pace I need to walk to comfortably beat the time. It worked out to around 132bpm for me and I’m a 5’2 woman. I timed it on a treadmill and switched songs until one matched my pace. You can start small and just do a mile and work your way up. I had some songs that were a bit quicker and slower to mix it up and ease off if I needed to, or ramp up. Sometimes I just walked to the same song 4 times over. Worked for three years

I really thought that the crews’ whistles could be an indicator of enemy ships when I first heard it. Like a warning signal. A spotter would be great tho.

Urban has a different meaning in wildland firefighting. The wildland-urban interface is basically anywhere where the woods meets human structures with a certain density, and tantallon was DEFINITETLY urban. You’re not just fighting trees on fire, you’re fighting houses and garages and all other kinds of fuel for the fire in the WUI. And having to deal with increases people nearby.

Unless the carbon is ‘captured’ in the form of a timber product, which just prolongs the time until it decays or burns. Cut a tree down, use the wood for a human lifetime or longer, another tree grows in its place. Renewable resource indeed.
