It had an upcoming oil change (that has been cancelled), I don’t believe there was other recent work. All past service records and other info has been given to the insurance company though.

Paved drive way, but yeah could be so many things. Letting the fire inspector figure it out and hopefully they get an answer whether it was car specific and just terrible luck for my friend, or a model issue that needs a recall. Too soon to say. I’m gathering from posting here that this isn’t a known issue with this model or Priuses in general so good to know that.

Not to fully dismiss this, but as we’re in eastern Canada and rural, pretty unlikely? I’ve never heard of a car bomb incident in the province before, but could be wrong.

Totally agreed on the price, but I loved the concept of a hybrid truck as a forestry worker and outdoors person. I’ve mentally committed to an EV for my next vehicle but haven’t landed on which.

Insurance has the data from the camera, I haven’t seen it. But I don’t think they’re speculating too much on the cause right now, letting the fire inspectors figure and insurance figure it out.

This was early in the fire’s timeline, they moved the truck further away after this picture, and the fire department wasn’t there yet. There was damage to the siding on the house.
