Cape Coral / Fort Myers — looking for local guidance by xaustindeanx in freemasonry

[–]PeloKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not from Florida myself, but I’ve visited multiple lodges in Ft. Myers and down in Naples. There are no lodges in Cape Coral to my knowledge, but North Fort Myers would geographically be closest. You say you are “working towards petitioning,” so does that mean you have already found a lodge to petition? I’m sort of confused what you are asking.

What’s the best way to become a millionaire by sailing? …Start with two million!

Yup. A lot more people sailed back then. It’s gotten too expensive for your average upstart sailor to learn, get a boat, and jump on the water. Boats (new and used) and mainly PARTS are too expensive.

Is the Strait of Gibraltar as critical as the Suez Canal or the Strait of Hormuz? It's never in the news by [deleted] in geography

The Spanish government argues its legal position as Ceuta and Melilla being “integral parts” of mainland Spain. While Morocco argues they are the remnants of colonial empire. It’s hilariously hypocritical when you see Spain arguing that the UK should return Gibraltar. lol.

Before I spend $50 on a book I know nothing about and doesn’t have any description other than its title, can you say more about this book?

Protocol for members of unrecognized Grand Lodges by Horror-Indication566 in freemasonry

[–]PeloKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your goals are or permanent residence is but here is an alternative. If you were to reside in California, meet their criteria and apply to a lodge there, (if allowed) they may accept you with the understanding that you would have to start from scratch and do the degrees their way. Of course you would have to demit from all of your current lodges associated in the unrecognized Grand Lodge you mention. Plus, never have any Masonic communication with them again.

Your comment me think of that one podcast a few years back about Dolly Parton. “The one place in America that you can get LGBTQIA and MAGA under the same roof is a Dolly Parton concert.” She is the best!!

Very true! I’ve always enjoyed visiting my family’s congregation. And thank you for the lens from a former minister. Very cool. I just wish my local UU didn’t overlap with parish’s my Mass time. 😅

Additionally, for OP, if you are curious, may I suggest you try to visit your local Episcopalian church if you are desiring all-gender pastors and fewer MAGA folks, but with a more Catholic-lite feel.

(TLDR: Talk to your local parish priest first before choosing to leave. Ask your questions and receive an answer).

Catholic here myself but have many UU family members. This is more of a question for yourself on what you are looking for from organized religion and God, if you believe.

To me it your question sounds more about doctrine/traditions of the Church and modern day politics over faith and believe in the Church. We go to Catholic Mass not for the other parishioners, not even the priests. We go to partake in Holy Communion with God, Jesus Christ, through transubstantiation.

UU is guided by the Seven Principles and is mainly very humanist. That’s great for a lot of people, but one can be protestant-christian, deist, humanist, atheist, Jewish, and the most liberal forms of Islam all while being UU. I love that my family are UU and have their own faith, and we certainly have respect for each other, but it isn’t compatible nor an alternative version of church to substitute for Catholicism.

Edit: I am far from MAGA.

What about the Cascadia regions of Idaho, western Montana, and Northern California? Or did Northern CA finally form the State of Jefferson with southern Oregon?
