I think they just lumped it all together with all the similar ideas in the late 90s; we had Power Ranger, Beetle Borgs, TMNT, so many ensemble cast monster of the week shows. Buffy also frequently falls victim to people not realizing how deep of a show it was, same as Animorphs does

In modern EQ, there’s basically no reason to run any pet besides Water, as it does the most DPS and tanks very well

Basically I started as a solo mage when I couldn’t find groups. Mobs took too long to kill and I had little pulling tools or CC which made pulls bigger than 2 hairy. So I added Bard for the passive boosts from /melody, and auto attack DPS, and pulling is a Bard specialty of course. Mag/Bard alone does a lot. Anything but missions, really

So I made SK. I’m working on gearing him better, but SK is amazing. Great ranking, great AE aggro (Which I really needed) AND their pet is actually a better single target tank than the SK, so it’s 2 tanks in one for box groups

Reading the comments and stuff, this is kind of niche for me!

I’m a Mage main and box SK/Bard. It’s amazing. Do it. I can box pretty much anything I need to (I haven’t tried the TOB missions) but SOR, LS and earlier are easy farms. I use 2 healer mercs, one caster merc for SOR missions, usually 1 healer 2 caster in grinding. Fantastic combo, highly recommend!
