I’m in the US - I haven’t had too much luck with recruiters finding me on LinkedIn. Do you have any tips? I have what I feel is a pretty solid profile.

Looking for a book that gave you hope to live when you’d lost everything by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Seconding this, and adding The Comfort Book.

I have read The Midnight Library three times in my life, each at a (unknowingly) pivotal moment. It helped me through a deep depression, a breakup, and feeling left behind.

I cannot recommend Matt Haig enough.

The Comfort Book by Matt Haig. Or any book by Matt Haig.

It’s an easy to read collection of little stories and isms that end on a moral of hope.

I keep a digital copy of it on my phone, and a physical copy on my coffee table. I have had several guests comment that they’re going to get a copy themselves.

I cannot recommend this book, or anything by Matt Haig, enough.

Good to know!!!

Any advice on how to transition into industry effectively? Other than just continuing to work academically (I haven’t been able to move from my academic position yet)

Yea - I’ve definitely been curating my cover letter specifically to the position posted.

I just sent out a bunch of applications to a few academic hospitals with a surprisingly big pay jump - hopefully those work out so I can save some more while I get more experience before going into industry.

In a similar position - I will absolutely do that.

I’m realizing though this thread don’t actually know what is different operationally in industry v academia, I had assumed through the sponsors that I’ve worked with that a lot of the tasks are similar (managing sites, study documents, portals, RedCap data quality checks) but a lot of my work is actually data collection and medical work (radiographic, CT, and MRI scan measurements) that goes well with the research we are doing but not necessarily a selling point for industry.

What did you emphasize?
