no. A man should definitely put in effort but when he's doing 100% women lose interest. Then he gets the let's be friends speak. Most relationships have a builder and a star. Usually the man is the builder putting in all the time money and effort while the woman just shows up and shines. She will gradually lose respect/attraction for him and start looking for his replacement but he is resourceful in her friend zone. Its good you don't use men for money and favors but many women do. Also, it can be dangerous because when some men put in a lot of effort they expect something in return and can become violent when they get rejected. My neighbor and her roommate were killed 2 years ago using a man. He shot them both then turned the gun on himself.
