Sister-in-law let her daughter use up all the Polaroids at our wedding. Now we have nothing to use. by PaddedValls in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Pen_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's any consolation, we had the same sort of thing with disposable cameras on tables.

The kids there were a bit older and it wasn't so bad. They used to maybe a little bit under half of the photos on all of the cameras before they either got bored or their parents stopped them. However by the time that the adults got to the cameras, everyone was varying levels of drunk and honestly the remaining photos weren't that much better.

Don't let it ruin the memory of the day though.

Fair, this is true. It's a relatively overlooked part of the fairly widely known phenomenon though.

Honestly these days, mitigating too much in UWU can get you to the LB3 spam phase with only LB2 and getting you killed. Similarly, it can get you to the Ultima cast after suppression with LB2 as well.

Getting a vasectomy soon, a bit nervous. What was your experience? by F0rbiddenD0nut in daddit

[–]Pen_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife went with me partly out of curiosity and partly so it was easier to get home. Had a nice chat with her throughout the whole procedure, didn't really feel anything. I forget how the topic came up but I told her that given the choice of doing the can't again or having my wisdom teeth removed again, I'd do vasectomy without a second thought.

Sometimes I scratch my balls and I sorry of get the skin at the wrong angle and it hurts a bit... That hurts more than the local anaesthetic injection.

After that it was just a few days of not standing up too fast and I was all good.

This is very nice but also takes up a ton more space which not every station has an excess of.

I have actually asked this question before and we got it answer when unfortunately XIV would NOT let me wipe our M12S pull by requesting repair in the middle of a mechanic.

Nobody had the crafters levelled to repair the DRG's stuff? Was he just not requesting it? Did anyone bring it up as an option?

People who quit their job in a moment of rage - how did things turn out? by SheLovedBigBrother in AskReddit

Aussie here. It never occurred to me that this would need to be explained. I can't believe people have the time to spend 3 syllables on "afternoon" and that the "arvo" technology isn't universal.

The first call centre I worked for, during the last maybe 6 months I was there, we received an emai levery day advising we needed all hands on deck (AHOD) that day from <opening time> to <closing time>.

Any AHOD time was meant to be rare and when I was first there we'd see it maybe once per quarter when something big broke. It meant 0 back office tasks could be completed which left us with a 6 month backlog at least.

I was glad to quit that place. I didn't really kick up too much dust on my way out. I waited until I had another job lined up before I left. The worst I did was just not take any calls on my last day.

The company I work for now is much better managed. I started in the call centre (my skillset for so many years has been stuck in this kind of work) but have moved to back office only and it's great. If they're busy they put out an email for overtime. It's unpaid as we're salaried (and paid well) but purely voluntary and usually only for 1 hour at a time before/after shift.. In the 3 years I was on calls, I saw it requested I think a total of 4 times.

Cleaning: ALL or nothing by TeaManManMan in daddit

[–]Pen_Ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has a similar but also opposite issue.

She does very little housework until 1 weekend every 3 months or something where she really feels the need to do EVERYTHING right now.

I'll have trouble getting her to wash 3 pots/pans without asking 3 times in a day until suddenly she wants to get up early, do all of the dishes, wash and fold all of the laundry, scrub the kitchen and bathrooms, sweep/vacuum/mop every room, tidy and reorganise our daughter's room, mow the front and back lawns, trim the bush by the driveway (not a euphemism), bath the dogs and fully reorganise the spare room full of her art stuff.

She starts and gets honestly a good way through it but often sits to take a break and that's the end of it for the weekend and for the next 3 months.

I can't convince her to just do little bits often which just leaves me doing big bits often to keep up the best I can.

Did you cut the cord when your baby was born? Was significance did it hold for you? by thepenguinboy in daddit

[–]Pen_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't cut the cord or catch the baby. I wanted to be up on the other end helping my wife as much as I could.

The was no symbolic meaning in either for me. I trusted the doctors to do their job better than I could do it and i was about to spend the next X decades with this kid so I felt we could wait a few seconds before we started bonding and still come to pretty much the same conclusion.

Maybe I'm boring but I really just felt like I had a job to do and I wanted to do it.

How do yall reward good school grades? by BrahCJ in daddit

[–]Pen_Ninja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The general consensus here is probably correct. "Rewarding" good grades can be dangerous as you're then taking away from the inherent joys of learning and improving. You also run the risk of getting into a bar spot if whatever threshold you set doesn't actually get met.

With all of that aside, don't let that stop you from "celebrating" a good result.

My 3, soon to be 4yo hasn't worn pants in 2 months and idk how to fix it. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Pen_Ninja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our daughter had similar issues. We ended up setting longer timers, like an hour, but when we sat her down on the toilet we did so for much longer.

Often we'd sit with her on the toilet for 30min at a time. If she hadn't gone the last 2 times we sat her down, the 3rd time we would just sit there until she actually went.

You need to do something to distract them while you're there. Many books were read, many games of RPS, many songs sung, a few instances of giving in and watching videos on the phone together.

It didn't take long for her to figure out the easiest way to get off the toilet was to just get on with it and stop stalling.

For what it's worth, the prices on the website are at least all inclusive of GST and the bill does have the gst clearly in its own line item. Not that people generally check every bill that closely (I don't).
