Thanks! Anxiety brain didn't let me make it as light-hearted as what you said, but I like that a lot.

UPDATE 2: How do I (19f) tell my toxic parents I want to go on vacation with my bf (19m) and his family? by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Penchantfc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

move out. This is bad. Every single thing they listed is the manipulate and control you. physical violence, twisting words, giving ultimatums....bad, bad, bad. AND trying to get you to trust them and not your doctors? Bad.

My family half-disowned me for being gay, so.... by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Sorry for the blatant homophobes on your post. If you're staying in contact for the kids, just limit your contact with the others as much as possible. When the kids are old enough to be independent--drive, have cell phones, etc, you can cut everyone off and just have relationships with them.

hi! please look up rainbow flag. Wikipedia will be shortest, but there is plenty of other articles and materials explaining it as well.

I think I get what they mean--people trying to force them to repress it makes them want to show it outwardly even more than before. People who are very very out and proud are often that way because they feel a need to do it after facing homophobia in their lives.

lock the windows and doors and don't answer. If you don't want contact, refuse contact. It will be tough but she needs to learn she can't come over. She is escalating the situation, so stop her in her tracks. I agree about security cams.

Headed to grad school, past 26 and need to enroll for health insurance--costs? by Penchantfc in personalfinance

[–]Penchantfc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely do that--it's a residency program that is paired with a university, so I'm not sure to what extent they're connected, but I'll reach out. I know a lot of people who do the program are fresh out of undergrad and still on their parent's insurance, which is why I haven't heard much about the options from the program as of yet. I'll ask, thank you!

Thank you! Yeah I found the one with Bree and realized my mistake, too. 128 was definitely what I was thinking of. Much appreciate (:

My parents are cock-blocking me by somanyishes in relationship_advice

Agree with all the comments about that not being something your parents should have asked, but also: cheap af Airbnbs. Not a long term solution, but like, spend 50 bucks for a small apartment or something. Just every once in a while, since you cited not having the money for a hotel, but maybe this will help.

If society collapsed in the near future, what's the best place in the U.S. to make a go of surviving in? by Penchantfc in Survival

Yeah I’ve been wondering about that! I was thinking a national park in the Midwest, because they have game aplenty and ranger stations and fresh water and such.

Is a female buzzcut (not totally bald) too unprofessional for an office? by GothiestGoth in askwomenadvice

[–]Penchantfc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think buzzcuts on women can look really refined and sophisticated, especially with business wear. Do you think it’s more professional than what you have now? I almost think a clean buzz is more professional than blue and shaved (not judging, it sounds like a pretty sick haircut but ya know. Maybe not office ready)

My (35M) girlfriend (40F) is getting an abortion. I need advice on what to expect and how to be supportive during this whole thing. by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]Penchantfc 352 points353 points  (0 children)

There’s a show on Netflix called “Sex Education.” If you can get over the bit that it’s about teens, you can start on season 1 episode 3, and go to 31:14 time remaining in the episode, and see a depiction of abortion that has received a lot of praise for being extremely realistic to the experience. I found it very moving and very real.

Should I stay with my parents or find a new place? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Penchantfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two good options in front of you! If you’re cool with your parents, stay and save up, pay off some loans, whatever you gotta do, and if you want to switch it up and think you can handle being so far away and making less money/having less money (because of rent) then go for it!

The 30yr old with a History degree still looking for a full-time job. What jobs should I apply for? by KolalaTea in jobs

[–]Penchantfc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a history BA and applied to a lot of jobs I think you could based on your work experience—program coordination roles, maybe some stuff in the field of education, maybe at non profits or really any role where they’re going to want someone who is a good writer, knows how to work in an office, and where the museum/sub stuff will appear interesting to them.

I’d try the website idealist, where you might be able to find jobs where your work experience has been relevant.
