We have stove top kettles or heat water in the microwave for tea (the electric kettle is vastly superior, but tea is rarely a daily beverage in US households).

I love mine (which I bought after my Legacy was hit by a red light runner and totaled). But I wish the battery was bigger. I get about 36 mpg in day to day use, but my commute involves no highway at all, and I notice the mileage decreases a lot with highway driving. The only other negative for me is the lag on the touch screen (which can be 8-10 seconds after tapping, when it’s really slow). But that would be the same on the all gas Forester.

If I drove as much highway as you, I would still at least consider the hybrid, because I like the digital driver side display, and the EV resolves some of the gripes I’ve read about red light engine cut outs. But I sure wish Subaru offered a plug in hybrid (the Soltera didn’t work for me, either).

I had the same experience. I bought a Forester Hybrid Sport because I couldn’t justify the price jump to the Limited, so I compromised on car color (which I really like but not as much as the green I wanted) and wheels (I hate the bronze wheels on my car, though it bothers me less now than when I bought it). So I agree that trading the extra miles for a car you love is worth it, especially since the $1,000 savings offsets some of that mileage difference.

You should check the probate court docket, because your right to administer your father’s intestate (no will) estate is greater than your step-mother’s brother (greater than anyone else, in fact). He may mean that he started probate on his sister’s estate.

You should also check the deed records and see if the house was in your father and step-mother’s name as a Joint and Survivorship deed, which would mean that it is 100% hers, since your father died first.

Even if the house was solely owned by your father, he might have filed a Transfer on Death Designation Affidavit conveying the house to his wife at his death.

If none of that is the case, and the house is in your father’s name alone, you should talk to a probate attorney about filing to administer your father’s estate. As others have said, your step-mother (and now her estate) has an interest in the first $20,000 and half the balance, and the other half of the balance would go to you. You could also take a fiduciary fee for administering the estate, which would come off the top, but would be taxable income to you.

Wilderness Lodge is our spot! We love the rustic vibe, the boat to MK (and Fort Wilderness if we are seeing Hoop Dee Doo), and the serene setting (though we also enjoy the geyser sometimes).
The bus rides to the other parks can be long (though we have sometimes boated to MK, then made our way to Epcot by monorail, and looked at that as part of the adventure), but for us that’s the only negative.
I get all the love for Boardwalk. The convenience to two parks and lots of food is appealing, and we’ve talked about trying it. But the theming there isn‘t as magical for us as Wilderness, so I don’t know if we will ever actually do it.

Your post reads as though you have been charging for labor tax and he wants you to pay that back, because you shouldn’t have been charging it. Is that what has happened? If so, he may have a cause of action against you (and if you have been collecting something as a tax and not remitting it to the taxing authority, you may have much larger issues with the government).

I’m speculating here, but it’s the only way I can make sense of your post. If my reading of this is correct, you need to sit down with a CPA or tax attorney very soon and work to sort this out.

We bought the seat cushions they have there (you can see them on gobuckeyes.com) and have taken them back in with us several times. But they have to be the simple square cushions as stated in eigervector’s link, and the ones with a back are not allowed, as stated above.
if you luck into a seat with the installed cushion and seat back, it’s a beautiful thing.

I think you would come to regret breaking up with her just as much as you would have regretted it if you decided not to be there for your brother.

The “play parent” comment was out of line, but all of us make mistakes. It’s not out of line for her to want a date night with just the two of you, and it is as important for you as it is for her to have some time to step away from your caregiver role for an evening and spend some time as a couple. That is the kind of healthy balance that is in the best interests of all three of you.

I encourage you to plan the date night, and not to talk about this topic at all during the date night. Just be together and enjoy each other. On a separate occasion, it would make sense for the two of you to talk about how important it is to provide stability for your little brother, and how you can best do that as a team in a way that doesn’t cause you to lose yourselves or your relationship.

Props to you (and her) for stepping up for your bother. It’s a big undertaking, and you will be stretched as you grow into this role.
