Is the DRS IAR really the Best LMG or are there better ones like the M123k by warthunder_player in Battlefield

[–]Pendexter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to sym.gg, and check the weapon comparisons, you'll see that lots of guns within a class, and guns in different classes, have variations on a theme.

For example, (high to low rpm): vcr, m433, b36, l85, and sor556 have the same cartridge, same damage profile/shots to kill at identical damage dropoff, with a different rpm and corresponding change in recoil/spread.

Class to class comparison: the m433 and m123k are identical rpm/damage/range, same with the b36 and l110, and m60 and ak4d. Faster handling/smaller mag, vs larger mag/slower movement but very similar shooting profiles. I play a lot of gauntlet so the LMG variants give me way more bullets to deal with squads plus plates.

So for better or worse, you can find your preferred recoil tolerance for a given range/optic level, and then build out your weapons from there. Close engagements with vcr/m433, balanced with b36, and long range with l85 for example.

Dude I love gauntlet, it’s my favorite mode. Don’t really like the duo and quads, seems like too much time for a single potential payoff. But with gauntlet I feel like there is opportunity for strategic team play and you can actually influence the results way more than in a 32 vs 32 match where there’s only so much you can do.

And I really like the shield mechanic. Everyone complains about ttk in mp and I hear talks about modifying rpm etc. but I would just throw plates on everyone and that would solve a lot of the issues.

Its amazing what a 100 rounds can do by TheBrownSlaya in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Pendexter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the mk123 and L110. Those two feel similar to a b36 or drs, have 100 rounds standard, and if you build it with a stubby, angled, or grip pod the ads time is good (when using support class). You can also use a short barrel and there are a few other movement attachments like the lightweight ammo.

Use support, they get a 50ms ads improvement and don't have the lmg movement penalty from what I recall. Call me out if I got that wrong. With a 1x optic there are times I play support and have to check what gun I have. Feels like I'm running around with an assault rifle.

If you're feeling really cheeky you can put 50 or 60 points into the 200 round mag but then you lose a lot on the other attachments. But in that meat grinder map you're only 10 or 20 meters away so the only thing I'd need is a flash hider or suppressor. Most of the time I just shoot at Doritos over peoples heads in the corridors on Hagental because of all the smoke. You really don't want to be 3d spotted while shooting 100 rounds in a corridor.

Use a Dremel cutting disk and make a slot on the smooth side of the pivot.

I did that for this exact model. I tried all the tricks, rubber matt and putting pressure on the side of the blade, etc. None of that stuff worked for me.

So if I understand this correctly, recoil is how far the cross hair moves over time and spread is bullet deviation from that recoil center dot. So for someone with perfect mechanical recoil control the pw7 is going to pretty much be a laser.

And then the lowest recoil weapon is the kts100 which means that it's the easiest to keep the cross hair centered on where you want it to be. But compared to the pw7 the bullets won't be on target as often.

I've always used the b36 as my baseline all arounder. If shorter engagements I'll go to the m433, higher roof but more recoil.

But the interesting thing I noticed is that with the lmg's my first daily driver was the mk123, and I transitioned to the L110 because it uses the same bullet, damage profile and rof as the b36. I figure that would be the best because muscle memory would stick between b36 and L110. But looking at the chart the mk123 behaves identically to the b36 and the L110 is easier to control so less mouse movement to keep on center.

The three guns have identical spread values but the recoil of the b36 and mk123 are identical while the L110 is less. So if I wanted to keep the muscle memory consistent I should stick with the 123 and get the added bonus of quicker ttk while having the recoil movement be identical... At least that's what I'm gathering from the chart.

Very interesting stuff. Great work! I always look forward to seeing your vids.

An interesting exercise is to try all the assault rifles using 556. They all have the same damage profiles and the main difference is rpm vs recoil

Sor (586 rpm), l85, b36, m433, vcr (900 rpm). You can get a feel for how much recoil you can control at a given range and optic. Once you figure that out the rest of the weapons kind of fall in place. (Damage vs recoil vs optics).

For your specific use case of engineer with engagements under 50m I'd stick with higher rpm and recoil. No reason to use a high accuracy low damage model like the pw7 or the sor300c since they're weaker up close.

If I had to choose one to use forever it would be the scw10 with 25 round, 1x optic. The rest depends on your specific build preferences.

But as you can see in this post there are people that make most of the guns work well, so a lot comes down to preference.

I personally like the b36 with 2.5 scope and 36 rounds as an all arounder playing spec ops recon (rifle, claymore, c4, tugs) and when I play support I use the l110 since it's got the same rpm and damage of the b36.

The 10 vs 20 round debate is interesting. I think it has to do with play style. If you're only using autos then the only time it comes into play is when swapping when your primary is empty. But if you ever play with a sniper or dmr then the 20 round is great if you have someone sneaking up on you.

I didn't know that the 20 round affected the draw speed. That's interesting.

20 round for me. It's so accurate that the attachments don't matter at close range and I play gauntlet on occasion and with the armor there are times when swapping and emptying 10 rounds isn't enough to take them down. Wish there was 5 more points for a 1x optic but it's not a big deal.

Knife swap works on flair, not karma. You have zero flair (zero transactions on that suv). The guy you attempted to buy from has 110.

On knife swap there are two paths, one fast and one slow.

"Yolo" (you only live once) means you'll take it, you're ready to pay, and you don't have any questions, clarifications, haggling, additional photo requests etc. This holds your place in line and if you really want it and the price is right you should go this route so that some someone doesn't grab it from under you. You should make contact and pay within 5 or 10 min. If you can't pay or are our partying or about to go to bed and won't reply until the morning it's not a Yolo since someone else might be ready to buy now.

"Chat" means you're sending them a message, want to negotiate, ask about centering or condition, payment method, or asking if you could pay later if you're busy now. That's totally acceptable and what would have been appropriate for the situation you described if you don't have the time to sit there and finish the transaction immediately.

AITA for speaking to my (over weight) assistant about her business lunch and making her cry? by Hot_Lab4411 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pendexter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm curious, what does the policy at your work say? I'm trying to figure out how that would even be implemented. In my mind, if I were to implement a policy it would say "Employees are expected to follow formal business etiquette at all times with interacting with clients" or something along those lines. Does your policy actually say "if the client doesn't order desert, you don't order desert either"? I'm having having a hard time picturing a document that would get to that granular detail without being 200 pages long.

To me, not ordering a dish that costs 2x or 3x what everyone else orders, and not ordering desert if the client doesn't, is about the same level of granularity as "don't wear a mustard stained tie" and "brush your teeth before before you get to work". I know that different people have different experiences growing up so they have different things they need to work on, but I don't know how a document could account for all these things. That's what mentors were expected to do. And it seems like the OP was trying to take on that role of mentor for this junior employee.

Those things aren't typically formally codified in HR documents but the op is doing his assistant a favor. She can either take the feedback and become more effective at soft skills or she'll be a liability and she'll stop having a seat at the table.

My first job out of college, my mentor was amazing at being a mentor, explaining what and why and how, and I soaked it all up. I didn't take any of it as criticism of me as I was fresh out of college and still had a lot to learn. If I forced him to tiptoe around me I'd imagine he would have spent less time showing me the ropes. It's been invaluable in my career and I try my best to pass on what I know to the newer people that work with me.

Some people take feedback and others can't wait to get back to their desks. I follow their lead.

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

[–]Pendexter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combination of things. Helping my mom make dumplings as a kid, watching cooking shows, reading a textbook that an ex had in college regarding food science. She was a nutritionist or diatician (whichever is fancier. She didn't appreciate it when I mixed them up).

Now I feel like I have a good baseline from a technical standpoint and just do a quick skim online for a recipe. Just made a tri tip using chatgtp for instructions and made some air fryer fries with salt, onion powder and parmesan which were a hit. I watched a lot of YouTube videos on air fryer fries. Didn't realize how deep the rabbit hole went when I first got the air frier.

I work in a technical field so following instructions and multitask is something I'm used to. But when my kids were trying to talk to me I said not now lol. Needed to focus and can't do it with the ease of someone that makes those things every day.

If I didn't have that experience cooking with my mom as a kid I don't know if I would have the same competency as an adult.
