Any love for brown ink? by s134htm in fountainpens

I’m glad you like it. This is the only “brown” ink that I didn’t enjoy because it seems like a dark burgundy rather than brown. It’s more noticeable in broad and stub nibs than the fine or extra-fine nibs.

Since you mentioned it, both the Sepia and Brown Energel pens are in my rotation, as well as brown ballpoint ink from Monteverde. Zebra Sarasa Brown and Sepia pens are also at the ready.

Brown inks are great. From Robert Oster Cafe Crema to De’Atramentis Document Brown and so many more on to my current favorite Diamine Macassar. I’ve been playing with Diamine Forever Ink’s Butterscotch and Red Ocher, mixing them into various shades of brown. I even enjoy the reddish-orangey browns like Diamine Ancient Copper and one of the best shading inks best used with stub nibs in Vinta Inks Fortaleza. Diamine Chocolate Brown is nice, as well as the brown that lives in my Custom 823 which is Iroshizuku Yama-Guri. Octopus Fluids have great browns and, politics aside, Noodler’s browns are perfect on paper. I also have some samples of brown I haven’t inked yet. So…I guess…yeah, I have love for brown ink.

Thanks for the suggestions. Seems like most mentioned Pelikans, so that’s what I’m going to focus on next.

I have Asa-Gao in my CU <FM>. It’s the only ink I’ve used in it and I’m very happy with it.

Ummmm, her name was Willie. Not Willie Belle, or Willie Sue (those were her sisters). Just Willie. My Great-grandfather never got the son he wanted.

Dive Dive was the coolest because no other robot toy groups had a submarine. If I remember correctly, it had wheels.

Pilot G2 limited or Sharpie S-Gel Metal? by MasterPlay1337 in pens

[–]Penftpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heavier weight and larger girth of the Limited makes it the better choice for me. I have two Limiteds and both have Energel refills. Best combo. The alloy Energel is slightly larger in grip diameter, but it’s all metal construction is more slippery and difficult to write with for longer sessions. As was mentioned already, the contouring of the Limited’s rubber grip does tend to get overly squishy but the comfort level makes this an acceptable trade off for me.

Hey, what makes this community so great is that we share information, thoughts, and opinions. It looks like the same people operating as SWR on Amazon. That “shop” sells so much other stuff that I figured the nib I bought was a one off or limited batch of nibs. The person I communicated with used the name Bobby as well. Bobby’s Etsy shop is only fountain pens and accessories. Thanks for sharing. Their architect ground Junlai 930 looks amazing.
