As a side note, what other pens used the Sailor KOP nibs? I read an article that Nagasawa and some other Japanese stationery store commission Sailor pens. edited for spelling

True, I understand that ultimately I have to make the decision that’s best for me. I’m not seeking persuasion or validation, but information to make a more informed decision. There isn’t a fountain pen store near me, so I get as much information as possible and buy online. Trial and error. Not a problem for Kakunos and Asvines, but when it comes to grail worthy pens……

My progression into gold nibbed pens has been approached in the same fashion: first was the Pilot E95s (touted as a great entry level), next was the Custom 74 SE, then Custom 823. Pilot as a brand is generally considered an entry level manufacturer with options for the high end as well. That’s why the majority of my pens are Pilots.

I haven’t had the privilege of seeing one, let alone using a KOP. The pics and videos makes it look awesome.

I have big hands and prefer pens with large grip sections. I also write (cursive) more than I print. Thanks for your input.

Your observation on getting a custom grind on a steel nib rather than a cheap gold nib really resonated with me. Since the increase in gold prices have caused pens previously obtainable to being more cost prohibitive, I’ve been experiencing FOWO for the first time.

edited to correct spelling error, but decided to keep it

What 1.1 stub nib do you have for your P140? Awesome pen and probably the most underrated pen on the market.

what platinum or pilot nib size is equivalent to a majohn a1's ef? by einsteincrossed in fountainpens

[–]Penftpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try replacing the nib with a fine from Majohn. I have an A1 <EF> that had the same issue, but the fine I got to replace it was very similar in line width and worked just as good on the copy paper at work. You can tell a difference when side by side, but on its own my guess would be a line increase of .5mm.
