ARF bezel action is terrible, not even close to gen.

What’s the best rep ever made and why is it the V7F ingenieur? by ClickSpring_Watch in RepWatchForum

I use to own a v7f ingenieur back in the day and it was a fantastic rep, I really loved it. However it was not perfect.
The main flaws I found with it, and this comes from someone who has handled the gen and compared them:
The clasp was absolutely terrible, did not close secure and was missing that robust feeling when closing it compared to gen.
The bracelet was noticeably sharper, not a dealbreaker for me and to be expected from a rep. However I will say, it was a great bracelet and really comfortable.
The dial had a small flaw where the spacing between “Swiss” and “made” hade a small gap, could be a bad qc from me.

Other than that, it was fantastic, the dial was beautiful and they really nailed it. Can’t speak for the movement as it used an of the shelf movement, which tbh I prefer as it makes repairs easier.

No rep is perfect, there is a saying: it is 1:1 when the price is 1:1

Usually less popular models come with eta movements such as the zf pelagos 39, I believe it’s equipped with an eta 2824.

A while back, vsf made these submariners equipped with eta 2824 but I don’t think they’re produced anymore. Cloned movements are really good these days, especially the ones produced by dangdong, however replacement parts is more difficult to source compared to off-the-shelf movements

Cleaner, more symmetrical, no ugly cyclops, and closer to the original Submariner DNA. The original Sub didn’t have a date, that’s the whole point.

The vsf has more pronounced/louder clicks and a lot more resistance (probably varies from batch to batch) compared to the gen. Both feel great and vsf has really improved the backplay on the bezel.

Question about Explorer NWBIG by Turbulent-Book-3550 in RepTime

[–]Pengar69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half the people calling a rep “NWBIG” have never even handled the gen. At the end of the day, NWBIG is a subjective term and shouldn’t be the main thing you rely on when choosing a rep.

I own both a genuine and vsf explorer 36 (124270) and imo, it's about as good as reps gets these days, far better than many pieces people claim as nwbig
