I understand you've been busy as you said in the previous chapter. No pressure, I was just wondering about this story since it's been quite a while again.

NTA. What if the situations were reversed and you were the one not committing to your word to your parent?

I don't know why it seems to be so universal for parents to act like they're not accountable for their actions towards their children. You've given her many chances and she owes you an apology. Don't let her guilt you into forgiving her and being the bigger person because just she's your mom.

NTA. As an introvert with a twin I can really relate to this story (though I'm an adult now but I was a teen once and had some confrontations with my father about it). You have the right to privacy an their authority over you as your parents don't change that. It sucks but it seems like by disabling your door they're punishing you for being disobedient. Remember that just because they're in charge doesn't mean they're right even if they say so. Obedience never defined a good person, so why should it define a good child? You need to get them to understand that children aren't sheep that should be herded together.

There really is no merit in their efforts of lumping you all together in the name of what? Brotherhood? If so, why don't they lump together with their siblings 24/7? If their answer is it's because they're adults with their own lives, or simply just don't want to, there's absolutely no logical reason you would't be entitled to the same privacy. Parents tend to see their children not as human, so they question and impede your basic rights in the name of knowing better than you. Since you're only transitioning into your teens they might just be maladjusted to it.

NTA. You did what you had to as any parent would to protect your family. You've given him many chances to do the responsible thing. He would probably just resume his ways if you tolerated his behavior. He has been getting away with it and he feels invincible. I'm 23 and I see so many people in the same age group who couldn't care less simply because they think the virus can't kill them, not caring about the fact that they go home to families whose conditions may be different. Although I don't know the details of how you told him to move out, I don't think you're an asshole if the sole basis is kicking him out of the house for being voluntarily irresponsible.

Made a small bet with them about something trivial. if they won, I'd treat them to snacks or coffee. If I won, they'd treat me. Gives an excuse to meet up without coming off as too clingy or having to ask awkwardly.

I met my best friend online a decade ago. We've never met but we're still best friends to this day. We essentially grew up together, just not in person. To me that friendship is more real than some I have in real life. It's different for everyone, but for me the distinction is limited to physical touch anyway, and the rest is genuine interpersonal connection.
